Bizarre New Controllers!

Just saw this and there seems to be a wave of really weird (and some cool) controller coming out for production and performance. Time to get your Jean Michelle Jarre on'

Starr Labs ZTAR Controller: (ableton guitar controller).

DUALO DU-TOUCH - portable instrument

Alpha Sphere Nexus - Midi controller

O-BOW - laser bow controller

NaoNext Crystal Ball - Midi controller

Hakme Vctr - Synth controller

Cool! WIll respond more when Ive watched them all

some of them were really nichey like the bow laser thingie, but I guess the guitar was kinda cool. But the guy needs to hp his synths lol, muddiest display of a new instrument ive ever heard :P

The crystal ball was just silly. And lame. None of what he did looked cool, and it sounded even worse lol. Especially that "scratching" bit on the end, wtf was that lol. PLus it's basically just a suped-up IR-theremin, and it's been done before. Maybe if it was smaller and u could easily operate the 4 parameters with one hand.

The Vector seems to be more to the point, but again, maybe if it was smaller? Plus seems more like an instrument than a controller in and of it self, but kinda cool. Seems very kaosspad'y tho.

Dualo sounds like Duali. So instead of thinking of music, Im now thinking of Indian holidays. PLus that thing looks like an accordian, and I'm sorry but accordians just aren't cool. Not even after Samim - Heater.

I guess some of them showed promise, but I dunno hehe.. some of them were just silly

Cool post, thanks!
Alpha sphere was posted here a while back ago I think, it was already concluded this thing sucks balls including the dude playing it.

I thought it looked familiar.
The whole vid (ok so I skipped thru it) I kept thinking, that thing would only be useable with a hold/sustain pedal.

i want them all!

then i could invite a whole band to groove in my Reason rack lol

If you play with an Ableton controller of any sort with all those flashing neon buttons, you're a f'ing dork, OK? They may be fun and even useful for production or DJ'ing, but they are not cool. Turning a Novation Launchpad into a guitar-shaped toy does NOT endow you with some new coolness factor - it just highlights what a giant dork you are, particularly if you're a skinny white boy with a lame haircut and no sense of groove (worst head-bob EVA). Don't.do.it.

Exactly my thought.

This just shows the idea industries got of the average customer. They think people are brainless imbeciles, and are probably right to a certain degree.

This reminded me of a line from a song "dimwits are attracted by lights".

*Imagines a fleshlight midicontroller

It's funny that most controllers that will never work and seem to be designed to remove assholes that don't know any better from their money are designed for Live.

L4C knows it these are designed fro dub step producers.

Some of these look like they could be fun. That guitar reminds me of Tyco's Hot Lixx toy guitar from the 80's.

What about the Seaboard out of my budget anyway. I think it's odd but would try one in a shop.
