Maybe someone can help? I never heard of these before, are they for Windows XP? Linux? Throw me a bone.. :P, also how do you install them.

Posted by jinxed84 on Oct-06-2002 04:59:

you use a program called Lite Step
it replaces your windows "shell" basically what you see, with something customizeable..very customizeable. you can do some really cool things with them, integrate winamp and other programs into your desktop, change all the window appearances, make really cool drop down menus for programs, etc etc. ive heard it uses alot of resources though, my buddy was running it and it slowed his computer down terribly..maybe he ws using his old one, i forgot to ask him. oh well hope that helped

no litestep will use dramatically less resources by far.

I just spent the past few hours screwing around with Litestep. It was probably the most frightning experience of my life. Needless to say I did something wrong, and lost every icon on my computer, my tool ber, and my start menu. I thought I was going to have to re-install windows. Loseing 15 gigs of mp3s in the process. finally I restarted and for some reason, my livejournal client opened. I found a way to get that to open explorer, and I was back into windows.

Anyway, anyone know a good site with details on how this whole litestep thing works. It seems pretty cool. I want to read up a bit before trying again.

ah
good o' litestep

nice theme you use 7C

i remember i used to use litestep myself 3 years ago or somthing on my old computer

learned how to code/debug scripts etc for it, but that's the past hehe

as you said, it runs much faster than windows (did it at least on my computer), dont load all those useless stuff that windows loads

I use the basic "StyleXP" to costumize my desktop to look cuter.
Its not better or improves the stuff like u said, but its nice neat and clean
