Beating Matching Help???

i've always had trouble perfecting my bpm matches.... one of the biggest prob is.. sometimes i can't tell if the track i'm cueing in is
faster or slower than the one that is playing... anyone have n e tricks at tellin if its faster or slower instantly... cuz it usually takes me a while to figure it out... so i'm not left with much time to match bars and themes etc.....

and sometimes i feel like i have the 2 bpm matching.. the next time u kno.. when i actually do play both... one slower creeps out of the other.... help pls... how do i kno when its perfectly matches....
the shit thing or good thing is.. i'm not workin with a mixer that has bpm counter.. soooo..... suggestions anyone... thanx

Here are a few tips that you can practice with. First, try slowing one way down and keep increasing the speed until you match the tracks. This way you know that the one you slowed way down is the slow one, period. Also, when you are mixing, I perfer to listen to the tracks that I have assumably matched for about 60 seconds. This makes it for sure that I DO infact have them beatmatched, and if I don't then I try speeding up or slowing down the cue track to try to rebeatmatch the tracks. This way, when I'm in the middle of the mix, I already know if my cue track is going to need to be sped up or slowed down before I'm making the transition.

Just take it slow and keep practicing. Slow moves on the jog or record will help too. If you slowly speed the cue track up and it gets worse, then you know that you have to slow it down and vise versa. Also, don't just use the bass beats, sometimes they can be pretty confusing to which beat is coming from which track. Try to listen to the high hats or other instruments that you know are from the cue track or the live track.

another method that works for me is to play both tracks on your headphones. after you pushstart the second record listen to see which one trails off. be sure to concentrate on one of the beats. then turn off the other song that your not concentrating on in the headphones, then turn it back on. then off, until you realize whether the beat is ahead or behind.
another thing you can try to do is set the pitch of the incoming track at the same speed of the playing track. listen to both in the headfones, push start the second track, then if you think the new track is slower, slow down the pitch of it way down, until you got it matched with the song playing, if that doesnt work, you know the song is going to fast, so start over. push start the second record on beat with the playing record, then move the slider way forward till they are matched. eventually you'll figure out how much you need to set the pitch for the incoming track.

..take your cue*headphone* and slighty move it forward..almost making an air trap..try that..it helped me at first

Do like Dj Flesch said and slow down the incoming track and graduallly speed it up. Also (this may sound stupid, but it workz for me) try dancing to the beat of the playing track and keep speeding up the cued track till your dancing is @ the same tempo as the track that playing...then play both @ the same time thorught your headphones to fine tune beatmatching...

i've changed how i look at beatmatching since i started using this
and it's improved my mixing 500%
