Talking convincing the world

convincing the world and me that subtractor got actually the potential of phat leads...I once said subtractor sucks and I still believe that quality sounds are not possible...

so I want to make a little competition about it...I want to publish the best Subtractor Patches right here...send me your patches...the winners will get a really fucking phat lead ( Reason SMP or RNS ) ...

Well, im out.

The subtractor can make some excellent leads

here are some ideas on how to do it:

Use two of them, routed to play the exact same thing. Pan one to the left and one to the right.

Add delay and reverb to each one and compress the hell out of them.

I have one really good lead that I made in Subtractor that I'm using in my latest track so I don't want to give it away! So count me out.

I'd say look Airbase's sounds.. His sounds are amazing and he use subtractor I think

Airbase wrote HERE

I very seldom use the subtractor but it happens, if I make a sound that sounds un-subtractorly, if you know what i mean. apart from that, I use the sampler and the drummachine and also the rex loopplayer. I fetch samples to the sampler, samples recorded from some synths, not my yamaha because that one sounds pretty lame compared with a jp-8080 for instance, anyways, i load the samples into the sampler, then makes music

everyone is talking that subtractor is a good synth...but I am still waiting for an example ( and if someone doesn't want to give his one and only patch to community, he could give an mp3 for us to listen ...)

Click on Unknown Source, then listen to Force Of Nature, that one is mainly made with subtractors... The subtractor is greak if you know how to use it... I dont, he does! =)

you can make very cool sounds with the subtractor, i only have one sample online and it isnt very good, but anyways: sample

Subtractor is great maybe you don't need it for every production but it's still some useful

Posted by Dave_Masters on Oct-09-2002 13:24:

I think subractor is great. I havent mastered it yet, but here is a sample of a remix i did of Digital Blonde - Electra, thanks for my good pal Robin for making the midi especially for me!

Save Target As, Rename .jpg to .mp3

P.S. I think this thread was created just so you could blag some patches! LOL

well i have a pretty nice string sound if that counts...it was trancevission that made it for me and it's awesome so the subtractor sure as hell got potential

download it here

it's the string in the beginning I'm talking about

*lol* my own patch will be used to convince me that subtractor got potential..pure irony...meanwhile I could listen to lots of sounds of subtractor and I think when you reduce those harsh frequencies like in the stringpad it can sound quite good
But I am still hoping for some Ferry Corsten - Punk or Rank 1 Awakening sound coming of the subtractor...

haha I didn't realise that you started the thread TV

well I haven't really put any time into learning how to program the sub (mainly coz I like to work with the samplers more) but when I do I bet that I can create a punklike sound or something like that, no doubt

just need to take the time to learn it 100%

thing with the sub is that when you work with it and program a sound from scratch you have a quite dull sound, with the sampler you already have the main sound there and just need to EQ and compress the shite so it can get pretty booring just sitting there and tweaking the sub and tweaking it a bit more etc.

I'm a little bit drunk (a little ?) can i post some an1x patzches cuz they sound fcking good.. better then any soft synth could ever do. Is this only subtractor or also hardware syntshs ???

Posted by davinox on Oct-12-2002 02:55:

i want some subtractor patches too!

I find alot of patches by doing Google searches, theres some damn good sites out there to leech off of.

Posted by Vizay on Oct-12-2002 12:57:

well as i men tioned in my previous post...learn to program the god damn thing....then and _only_ then will you get the sounds you really wan't from the sub....after all it's quite hard for someone else to create the sound that you think is the absolute best sounding

[edit]

in short words, there are no shortcuts to the perfect sound

Check out the link to my remix of Rank !'s Air Wave ^^^^

the Lead Synth, Strings, Bass and Plucked synth were all made with the subtractor.
Now U try to tell me the sub can't create phat sounds.

A bad workman always blames his tools

*lol* how could I forget you ...the one who made midwinter 2002...probably one of the best subtractor Rank 1 Pads I have listened to...

I tell you people if you want to see real quality subs just download
Midwinter 2002 by Bren-F at www.reasonstation.com ...

The sub is VERY capable of creating PHAT lead sounds.

Be creative and as vizay said LEARN it....

Always use more than 1 sub.

I tried attaching a sample, dunno if it worked, thats pure sub with the deadline melody
