Question Monitor problem

For some reason my monitor turns pink and all of the green appears as black & white. Now I don't know if it's a problem with my monitor or my video card. Because a few weeks ago I opened up my case to install a new hard drive, and while I was in there I felt my video card's heat sink and it was very hot. I'm not sure if that's normal or what.

My computer doesn't have any kind of cooling system such as a fan circulating air or anything...could that be the problem? This has only been going on for the past few weeks and the video card is about 6 months old. The monitor came with the computer and is about 3 years old and I would say it's used roughly 8 hours a day.

try getting new drivers for your gfx card first then if that dosent work try getting some new ones for ur monitor

hmm, well...

the pink and green issue is something ive dealt with before. is it this way for EVERYTHING? or just certain progs? im liable to believe its in the card cause most display issues stem here, and not from the monitor. monitors tend to blow up and completely crap out rather than going peacefully into the great beyond. i guess its possible that some of the colors have fucked up in your tube, but i wouldnt be so sure.

try looking for a newer driver, or in some cases an older driver with larger compatibilities(ie not a beta) and that should help. if the comp/card is old, its a crappy fact of life that newer progs wont display properly(damn you USNF on my viper550). alt the upside is, that if this is an old card, you can get a MUCH faster one for cheap these days. and newer cards actually take strain off your cpu to help performance more|

Well it's a Pixelview GeForce4 4200 128MB DDR. Pretty new This happens for everything, not just certain programs.

yeah could very well be the monitor then. some actually do use drivers, while others dont. goto the driver tab and try switching to the windows default...it might not be the *right* solution, but it could help you get an idea of whats wrong.

oh, and cooling your computer case can NEVER hurt...|
