Somewhen - 9 (more trance-techno)

Thoughts? This has been making the rounds in techno circles since the beginning of the year but i'm still not completely sold. But i'll say there definitely is a rather unique early 90's vibe to these tracks that's not explored very often.

Well, first of all, this isn't trance. Second of all, it doesn't smack of early 90s stuff - it actually sounds much like the typical dubby minimal techno I've been hearing here so often lately. Nothing special, imo.

Well I was trying to say that it's trance-y techno, not that it's trance. The production and structure are modern but I'm getting a pretty (modern) retro feel from the synths. Obviously it doesn't reinvent the wheel, I just thought it was fairly interesting. As I've said, I haven't even picked it up myself, just wanted to know what people here think.

Well that was a waste of time.

There's no trance here, mate, and these tracks are pretty crap as techno.

The SRX tune is a bit like the techno that would get shoved onto old trance compilations as filler.

They were always obscure too and mostly like made specifically for the comp.

"Sweet! 4 trance CDs for the price of one! Man, look at all these vaguely familiar names: Arts Of Trance, Richard Miles, Juno Reaction, Jack's Union, Aliens, Sven Vat, Cygnus-Z, Spice-Seller, Dance 4 Trance, Jam & Butter. Wait a minute..."

Reminds me of this thread, can't say I've ever ran into a comp with cover versions.

It's Woony's taste that makes me wonder if I know anything about dance music. Respect.

yeah i can hear what you're saying, something about those pads in the first 2 tracks and the bassline reminds me of late 90s stuff
