Technics SL1200 MK2 vs SL1200 M3D

Hi all,

I am shopping for some new decks. I currently have 2x Stanton STR8-60's which I am finding don't have enough torque to keep me happy.

What are the differences between the SL1200 MK2 and the SL1200M3D ?? Are there any great features which justify the extra US$100 per deck?
I did hear that when adjusting the pitch slider they are a little bit better in that the pitch doesn't "slew".

Is there any difference between the SL1200 M3D and the SL1210 M3D, other than the colour of the case (silver vs black?).

I am looking to get some Concorde style cartridges - any recommendations??

All help appreciated :-)

1200 - 1210
color & voltage
Silver - Black
one of them is sold in the US & the other is sold in Europe and other parts of the world

only diff is the M3D has some extra bells & whistles..theyre are both the same at the core

The M3D has a pitch reset button and quartz lock click/dip is gone. It also has a recessed power button to prevent those accendental power-offs. And it costs more.

mk2 is better, cause its cheapter and the m3d features are not so important.

m3ds dont have the 0 click
mk2s do

im not sure but i heard that the m3d has less torque and the pitch oscillates at zero due to the nature of the motor thing, or something. im not sure though, when i shopped, the m3ds didnt have enough extra features to make me want to buy them instead of mk2s

What about those new 1210M3Ds. what is new in them?

same as 1200 m3d. only different color and/or voltage

I personally think it's worth it for the absence of the click at 0. You're buying something that's going to last you for years, and not being able to mix around the 0 point is a massive pain in the arse. I'm not sure how bad it is on the MK2s, but on my old Numarks the difference between in the click and just outside the click was about half a percent, which makes a big black 1% hole. Very tedious.

I've got a rather new pair of black tech 1200 mk2's and i dont notice any lag at the 0 pitch. yea it clicks but it stays steady even when it is barely off the 0 notch. Very nice. The m3d's are nice but the xtra stylus holder and the clickless 0 pitch is not worth an extra 100 bucks.

it is a problem on mkII's. It's impossible to get it spot on if its between .5 and -.5

i got mk2s
they are fine..
and about the 0% pitch thing..
i dont play around 0% usually
