ReBirth RB-338

WOW!! The guy who made this has to be the master of Trance Music and the Master of the Roland TB-303 and ReBirth RB-338!
What do y'all think?

Yea, that's a good performance, you can actually hear how rebirth is limiting him.

TG Virus is still dominate

Amazing work...everywhere I looked, I couldn't find any information on any vsts that could properly emulate the 303. This is one I'll have to pick up sometime.

But there are so many emulators that come reasonably close!
TBL Bassline, Phoscyon to name a few. Rebirth, which is used in the video) is not a VST if I recall correctly. I think its a stand alone program.

Picking up Rebirth shouldn't be a problem, it is available for free, legally.

First google result on '303 vst': http://www.acidvoice.com/tb_303_vst_plugin_software.htm

+1 Storyteller to me Phosycon sounds the best of all the 303 VSTs.

Personally I absolutely hate using the 303 sequencer workflow inside a VST on my computer which is why I got a TB-3. IMO it has the best workflow of any 303 replacement as far as actually making sick acid riffs goes and the sound is spot on.

ABL2 is the best 303 plugin.

It's available as a Reason thingy as well.

Phoscyon does indeed sound quite good. Shows how much other forums know, I couldn't find any of this stuff...after hearing this, I have to get it. Really great sounding synth. I've been replaying this video for about 30 minutes.

It does sound quite capable of making those "darker" hard acid style tracks...I'll add that to my list.

Not really. There is additional character in the 303 filter and glide.

Yeah, had to get Phoscyon earlier and I am not disappointed at all. What a piece of software man...already 2 songs in the works with this thing, absolutely brilliant.

Posted by djshire on May-28-2014 01:07:

Phoscyon is the tits for acid. Now if I could just figure out how to program the damn sequencer...

Yep, alot of people forget this and try to play with their MIDI keyboard, then complains it sounds like plastic.

Decided to record a little bit of my playing around with Phoscyon to show you guys how awesome it sounds. Man, I love this thing.
Storyteller has my eternal gratitude.

Haha, what a coincidence! I'm actually the person behind this track. I made it 12 years ago, never thought it would find its way to Youtube... Did you upload it? How did you stumble upon it?

I switched to Reason in 2003 and managed to release a few tracks through Bonzai, but I'm far from the master of trance The honour of that title goes to my compatriot Laurent Veronnez (Airwave)

Posted by Viber on May-28-2014 20:23:

^what were your aliases?

Posted by TOR on May-28-2014 20:40:

Back in the Rebirth days I was making tracks under the 'Bilberry' and 'Bass Foundation' aliases. When I switched to Reason I changed my artist name to Cosmic Tracer. I'm also one half of Kindred Spirits: http://www.beatport.com/artist/kindred-spirits/336660.

Oh yeah! i remember you had a track called "Mistral" or something which was one of my all time Rebirth favs!

Just found the mp3 render on my pc too, can't believe its still there

Posted by TOR on May-28-2014 21:04:

Haha, that's great. I vaguely remember that track. I kept all .rbs files but can't get my Rebirth version to work on Vista unfortunately.

Posted by Viber on May-28-2014 21:25:

I like it!

I am on XP ReBirth works fine.
I just like to play around on it.
ReBirth RB-338 was my 1st software to make music on. My buddy gave me his CD back in the day. I did not know at the time what was a 303, 808 and 909 but I have fun on it.
I am still trying to master the program.
If it was 1985 or even the 1990s and I had a PC with ReBirth to just make hits on I would be happy. Fuck a MOOG and a DX7

There is the ipad app

Posted by Looney4Clooney on May-29-2014 22:34:

You dont have 4 iPads ?

Why not just run d16 's 808 , 909 amd 303 clone x4
You can use midi with an ipad tethered.

I think these iPads which are just fun great for ios.

Posted by Viber on May-30-2014 10:36:
