Starter Decks.... gimme some help guys :)

I'm in the process of saving for some decks, I can't go too high money wise else I'll be Neo's age before I get the decks

So what do you think of Citronic PD-Qs and then a suggestion on a decent enough mixer plz

cheers

Cool

imo ian, crappy direct drives are poor, i cant mix on gibbos dex which are gemini top of the range ones yet i mix mint on my techs. i suggest u get the stanton ones like neo has which aint that expensive i think and they are mint, if u want i will sell u my mixer for 100, it needs the right fader replaced and the left one crackles and the face plate is shedding paint, but i got it for 300 new. It still works and the faders are ok as long as u r gentle, its up to you

i say go ahead and get the best...if youre already up to the amount where you can afford tables, why not wait the extra time so you dont have to upgrade...its not that much more in the long run. i opted for used ones on ebay... two 1200s with stanton trackmaster needles and a vestax pmc-06 mixer for 811 dollars... just make sure they pack it well or have the shipping company pack it.

How much is ur budget ?

i think Numark Mixer is good enough for ur budget .. Try Matrix 3 .. Inexpensive [Around US$229] yet lots of features

Peace, LeVouS

I also believe it is worthing waiting and saving for techs and a decent mixer than just having to upgrade later... That is what I am doing

DONT BE IMPATIENT

If you wait now so u can save up for 1200's or pdx2000's
u will be ten times happier when u do get them

and besides if u decide ur not cut out to be a dj, these decks hold their value very well.

I bought 2 technics 1200's and a vestax pcv 175 brand new.
right off the bat. cost me about 1500 US but now i know how too mix well, and i'm not dying to get better tables.

I think that's gonna be the best option, will take longer, but if u buy the best u cant go wrong

good choice--Dont get beat counters on ur mixer, learn the real way, by EAR.

hmm well. here's how i see it..

the cheapest decent deck that wont just piss you off is probably $200. a decent used MK2 can usually be found for about $325-350.

that's not THAT much of a difference.. and you wont loose a buncha $$ on the cheap decks that wont get you that much back even if you sell them.

If ur low on $$, go for the Stanton STR8-80s. They're real cheap now.

Of if you want, you can save up for Technics. I'll just say when it comes to mixing trance, it's more dependent on the mixer than it is on the turntables. I got the Stanton STR8-80 and a Rane TTM56 mixer (700$). After mixing for a little over a year, I do wish i have technics, but it's definitely not somethng that I need because if you're good at a cheap deck,u'll be good at a good deck. Stantons have a good enough sustained torque to keep you rolling for mixing.

The mixer is where you'd want to invest a lot of your money because of the different features it has and the sound quality. For example i wouldnt buy anything Numark over a Vestax for 3 channels.

For mixer, try looking for the Behringer VMX200 or VMX300.. great value mixer from what I hear.

U can go for 2 stanton str8 80 and a sk6f for 500 bucks usd thats wat my buddy did for beginers.

if you havent dj'ed before, the above advice is good. cause incase you dont really get into it its not worth the cash.

but if you are serious about djing, and really want to get into it, no matter what you buy, you will regret buying techs somewhere down the line.

my opinion. :P

I think you meant, WON'T regret buying techs right?

in my opinion, technics are the way to go, just save up till you can get em. if you get lower end decks, and if you wanna DJ for real, then you will eventually have to upgrade to techs and sell your other ones, probably at a large loss. If you don't wanna DJ, you'll still have to sell your other decks, again at a large loss.

if you get techs, you will either be, set for life if you want to do it, or you will be able to sell your decks easily and possibly for more than you even bought them for!

get techs!

my opinion only.

if you gotta go cheap DON'T BUY : gemini, american dj, numark bla bla bla

BUY : Stanton

they will run like a jewel whilst their effectiveness will be behind compared to MK2s off course
