Looking for progressive music ( DJs / Clubs / Events )

I'm looking for DJs in Toronto that play progressive house / trance / breaks that has the same energy as the stuff played in the early 2000s. I really dig the sound that was played in the early 2000s that was played by DJs such as Sasha, Digweed, Cattaneo, Moshic.

Unfortunately progressive has been watered down into a much more minimal sound and lacks the energy it once had. It is difficult to find contemporary DJs that play the deeper / energetic sound I'm looking for. I think Moshic is the only DJ that has sticks with the sound he's played since he began; however he hasn't been to Toronto in over a decade (if ever) .

Short of DJing and producing myself is there anyone in Toronto that plays the sound I'm looking for?

Below are a few examples of what type of sound I'm looking for:

Anyone here know where I can find this sound?

Whenever JOOF comes to town he usually starts off his sets quite proggish. He's actually doing an extended 8 hour set or something at Toika this August (http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...s=#.U97lFvldUnU). Given that this event is just JOOF playing the entire night, I guarantee you he'll be playing more prog earlier on, as he's essentially the opener, peak-timer, and closer.

Other than that, the late 90's early 00's house sound, specifically prog, is a rarity in almost every country nowadays. I honestly don't think you'll be able to find a regular night like that at a venue in Toronto anymore, unless a special event is thrown (I think Houseaddict (?) used to have a monthly event of old prog like this but I don't believe it's happening anymore). Most DJs in Toronto have been around, especially the veterans, and they have extensive collections from that era and have played that stuff in the PAST, but not in the present.

You might be able to hear that sound at an off-chance at Cherry Beach on Sundays, but you'll have to do some investigating.

Thanks for the info! Do you know of other DJs that play the newer prog such as the stuff that's been released by labels such as Mistique Music?
I think Airwave plays similar type of progressive house / trance as JOOF however he's a bit of a rarity around here

Hmm...

-You might want to check out people like Mystic Mind (https://soundcloud.com/mystic-mind), although he plays a bit more techier nowadays. He still consistently plays prog though.

-Yohan does some good prog mixes as well, here's the link for one of em (https://soundcloud.com/yohan027/bel...gressive-spring)

-Another resident is Andrew McDonnell (https://soundcloud.com/andrewmcdonnell). He is more on the deeper end of the spectrum however.

-Similar to Andrew in terms of style but more techy, there's Beat Syndrome. Here's his soundcloud: (https://soundcloud.com/beatsyndrome)

-Tim Penner plays a tad more techno in his sets but he also makes some great mixes/tracks (https://soundcloud.com/timpenner)

-And another mention goes out to Mr. Morton... he plays at Trance parties mostly, but here's a progressive mix from him (https://soundcloud.com/krismortonmu...rton-mind-awake)

-Finally, here's a few links to a few sets I put together (shameless self-plug ). Sadly they are only on mixcloud, but the tracklists are there.
Borealis: http://www.mixcloud.com/GeorgeRimor...-george-rimore/
Aureola: http://www.mixcloud.com/GeorgeRimor...-george-rimore/
Prog-Breaks mix: http://www.mixcloud.com/GeorgeRimor...-george-rimore/

That being said, good luck in your hunt in finding old prog sounds. If you can find parties like this in Toronto,

I will give you a million dollars.

Oh and yeah, MSZ puts out some amazing tracks. He's from Toronto as well (MISSISSAUGA LOL). I'm not sure if he has any recent sets though.

Oeps, almost forgot about Biologik. He's had recent success with big DJs playing/charting his tracks lately. Check him out here: https://soundcloud.com/biologik

If you're a fan of Gai Barone's progressive he'll be at the Pure Trance boat party on Sept 7th along with Solarstone and Alex MORPH. He's a little more on the melodic side compared to the names you mentioned but he's prog.
