Read This! Substance Abuse

Im doing a reserch paper on the effects of substance abuse, either drug related or alcohol.
One of the topics Im gonna cover is behavior (permanant/semi permanant) that ppl have because of abuse.

Is there anything abnormal that you do or have seen other ppl do that you think is from drug/alcohol abuse? Are ppl in general happier ppl, or just odd. One other point I want to clarify is that Im not talking about ppl who's done so much drugs theyre vegetables now.

Thanks.

hehe yea something like that. Personally, ive done my fair share of fun and nowdays i find myself forgetting a lot of things and its gotten extremely hard for me to concentrate on engineering hw for more than an a coupla hours. Some other things I do, not sure if its from drugs, but i find a lot of things in life funnier than before and its embarrassing at times, but hey, its good to be able to laugh at things.

Whats frustrating for me is sometimes ill go upstairs to get something and when i get upstairs, i forget why I went. I hate that.

Most people feel that they are better off when they are ddicted to those sort of things, thinking that they are ok it cant hurt them, and cant be convinced otherwise. And most of the time after the abuse has stopped they realized the dangers of what they did.
Just personal experience

A guy we were with this weekend had far too much Ketamine, we went to his room, and he was lying on the floor breathing dead hard, saying he couldn't breathe, then he'd breathe normal, then hard again. He then said something about not knowing whether he was in the real world where he could breathe, or the fucked world when the man was on his chest stopping him from breathing.
weirdo

when you mix Rx drugs w/ pot or alcohol, it makes you a NASTY person to be around...i learned that in psychology last week...and err, i know from personal experience...

Busy child I've noticed that I too find stuff way too funny sometimes. To the point where I laugh so hard and long I forget what I was laughing at. I've noticed it in a few of my frineds as well. I've also noticed that for a week and a bit after dropping I get agrivated a lot easier, my fuse is shorter. Not that I go and pick out fights, but that people just bother me more. It goes away though.

The memory thing... ahh... huh? Oh yah, memory... uhhh... no I've had no real problems with that. Hey, anyone else see that lamp move?

Cheers,
Fats

of course ... i was talking about mixing prescription drugs (like prozac or any sort of anti-anxiety or antidepressant pills) with alcohol OR pot...

Posted by skaborough fats on Oct-14-2002 20:52:

I know a fellow who used to be slightly bi-polar (as in not very sever symptoms) who after taking E, speed, meth and a few other things became schitzo, and rather severly. He now is on a lot of different anti-psychotics and is a totally different person. So if you have any mental 'issues' I don't suggest of partying too hard, 'cuz he is now messed for life...

Cheers,
Fats

Im using these as effects from a personal point of view. The books says blah blah blah, but i think the class will find real stories more useful. If the teacher needs verfication from sources dont be surprised if any of you get PMs from me.

But yea, with the laughing thing, there are times when im watchin a movie with my roomies or on a date, or even by myself and ill laugh outloud at things that nobody is laughing at. I do this at the computer as well. To me, "lol" means "laugh out loud" and when i say that, i mean it I try not to do this on a regular basis or in public.

Ste, aren't pills supposed to make you even more miserable a bit after?

My friend used to be a really heavy marijuana user, he used to get stomach cramps that wouldn't go away until he had a cone. Another guy I know sometimes gets pain in his balls when he smokes (I'm serious).
I spoke to a doctor that specialises in marijuana abuse (most of his patients have like 10-16 cones a day) and he says they get delusions of grandeur. For example they say stuff like "I'm and artist" or "I'm a really good sculptor" but when he asks what sort of stuff they've done, they're like "oh I haven't actually made anything yet, but I'm gonna start soon".

Long term effects of multiple drugs: I know of a dude that did a shitload of different drugs and ended up with some pretty serious psychological problems - for which he got put in a looney bin. Apparently he has now developed a delusional idea that if one of the nurses/doctors sees him ejaculating they'll let him out, so he has become a chronic masterbator.

Yeah pills can make people depressed after prolonged regular use, due to depleted seratonin levels in the brain.
But on the plus side, a lot of people I knew who were very introverted/shy and didn't really know how to let go of themselves and have fun, can benefit by trying eccies. Some friends I know were like this, then they tried ecstacy a couple of times and it really helped them come out of their shell, even though they haven't touched it since.

my first weekend of rolling ever, i dropped an equivalent of 16 pills within 3 days. It doesnt sound all that much, considering some were double stacks and triples, but since i was new, i ended up being sick for a whole week. I wanted to die because my legs coudnt support my body and the whole week i was shivering and ran a high fever.
Pretty shitty.

16 pills? Doesn't sound all that much????

lol,
no it really isnt all that much considering a lot of ppl i know take 4 pills when they go clubbin (not all at once of course), and some of the pills I took were double/or triple stack. Some pills hit harder than the others so it isnt bad at all. At the time i was a new into the scene so i didnt know any better. Nowadays, 16 pills within a 3 day weekend is nothing to me because I dont have that depression comedown stage like some ppl do and Ive been doing this and other things for a while now.

cheers
