Be Cool! What is The Best Concert you've ever been too?

Just really curious as I spend like 20% of my annual income on concerts. I always invite lots of good friends/familyto experience the music I love. ...

Yup I'm a sucker with extra $.
So who are your faves?

Around the Australia Day 2011, went for the Rainbow Serpent festival

Probably NIN in 07 or 08, really surprised how good it was. That was the all around "best" soundwise and performance-wise.

Most fun I've had at a show was Melt Banana, hilarious

Deftones in '98

right now sad to say there's nothing new I'd care to see. Battles was okay. If you're in LA you should definitely go to the Hatsune Miku concert if tickets are still available

The first Lollapalooza - at least that's what immediately came to mind. The '92 and '93 editions were pretty boss, too.

Jane's Addiction
Siouxsie & The Banshees
Living Colour
Nine Inch Nails
Ice T & Body Count
Butthole Surfers
Rollins Band

yeah...

Now that I think about it, '91 was a good year for shows. Also caught Fishbone at The Masonic Temple - total mayhemic shitshow, that.

Slayer/ Anthrax/ Megadeth/ Alice in Chains - MSG summer 1991
Metallica/GnR/Faith No More - Meadowlands Summer 1992
Police reunion - Atlantic city Nov 2007

Recently saw Beck and the show was amazing. He doesn't just do Beck stuff - lots of covers and him and his band just jamming out. He is a great performer, he just oozes music. Plus I saw him at a proper music theatre and had great seats in the orchestra section. Made a huge difference. Cool lights + visuals too! I would definitely go back and see him live again and again, and recommend the same to anyone else, he for sure does something unique each time. Love that.

Beastie Boys back in 98 was pretty dope. They got the audience (this was at a concert park/fairground type venue that no longer exists) to clear a 6 foot wide pathway from the stage all the way back so that people could dance/form a boogie line like on The New Dance Show, during Body Movin. Fuckin so awesome.

Saw Metallica about 10 years ago and you can't really argue with that amount of pyrotechnics, lol.

Not the best music, but the most entertaining was most certainly Rammstein.

The best musical show? Stevie Wonder, solo. No backup, just piano.

Seeing Outkast this year was pretty fucking amazing.

My favourite show was possibly the Subcon Beyond festival in Denver, 2011. cEvin played a special Download set just for us, was delightful and nostalgic.

'Concert', though? I would for sure see Queens of the Stone Age again.

Not including festivals, probably Aphex Twin doing live PA in '97, with Crystal Method as the opener also doing live PA (this was just around the time CM were blowing up). Portisehead was supposed to perform that show too, but they were sick, so had some local 'rocktronica' group open instead. What sweetened this show was the fact it was at a club, and I was underage, so getting in made me feel all badass and shit.

CM put on an entertaining show, but I had no idea Aphex would do this:

Blew my mind at what a 'rave concert' could entail.

Runner ups:
Neil F'n Young in 2008, despite getting decked in the jaw for no reason.
The Police Reunion tour in 2007.
LCD Soundsystem in 2007.
Del Tha Funkee Homosapien in 2002.

it was just that good of a concert...and it showed why The Police is just made up of a trio of great all around musicians

Say whatever you want about Sting as a solo musician, but his Police material is mint.

Plus, Stewart Copeland was a fucking machine on the drums at that concert!

Kraftwerk 2008 in MSP. Best live sound I've ever heard.

Paul McCartney 2008 in Quebec City. 300,000+ people. Madness!

Tiesto 2004 Athens Olympics, brought tears to my eyes and will never forget each moment.

I second this. It was phenomenal. NIN was incredible, too.

I've also enjoyed pretty much every party I attended at Stereo, Picnik Eletronik, Circus and Aria in Montreal. Those were the daze.

I saw Skinny Puppy for the first time in Denver and they were sensational. Will see them again in December. Can hardly wait.

I haven't attended too many "concerts" exactly, although Massive Attack were excellent both times I saw them. Live electronic gigs like Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy were wicked fun though, back in the 90s.

Posted by looom on Aug-21-2014 07:00:

I sucked on my thumb back in the 90s

Posted by Redd on Aug-21-2014 13:19:

portishead and beastie boys 98
xploding plastix 03

been to 3 the prodigy concerts and they're not even close

Last year's Monsters Of Rock: Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, Limp Bizkit and the fucking Slipknot. Korn sucked balls.
