Idea Do humans like spicy food because it hurts to poop?

I only thought of this as I eat a slice of pepper covered pepperoni and mushroom pizza that ive drowned in Sriracha...

Shit in a bag, and use it as hair.

To my knowledge humans have always consumed spicy food because it makes food edible for a longer period of time. Now, if you enjoy the ring burning sensation that comes with spicy food, I guess you're just combining usefulness and pleasantness

Never heard of that. It makes you perspired which evaporates cooling you down. This why spicy cuisine originates from tropical areas.

I've been really getting into spicy foods lately. I was always a fan of curries and Thai food, but I've been eating a lot of Vietnamese food recently too. So damn good.

Posted by MSZ on Aug-23-2014 00:06:

I add cayenne pepper to everything, but its not hot enough to make you shit heat. Habanero on the other hand; GI tract no likey.

some hearsay http://www.rediff.com/getahead/2010...-spicy-food.htm

jerk chicken is so bomb. sriracha isn't even spicy lol. going to wing places to get the spiciest wings in town is stupid but everything with some heat is better.

Posted by r5a on Aug-23-2014 01:20:

just recently i had to deal with this. normally i can eat spicy food no problem. i actually dig a bit of spice.

1st time ever i dont know what it was but the pepper was SO HOT i literally couldn't finish my burger. my mouth was on fire for a half an hour. on the way out it was brutal. felt like my asshole was burning.

rolled the dice and lost. oh did i ever lose..

Posted by planetaryplayer on Aug-23-2014 03:09:

lol i bought spicy wings, i think they had a small amount of ghost chile in it... it wasn't that bad coming out but going it a dif story.. 6 glasses of milk for 1 pound of them lol. although the 3rd shit the next day was like fiery in colour and in pain. scotch bonnet n habanero i can handle, idk what the next steps are though

Posted by PurpleHaze on Aug-23-2014 03:21:

spices and peppers are my favourite compliments to any dish. I used to add salt to a lot of my dishes, but now spices add that extra pop, zing and burst of flavour I crave.

i always have a bunch of jalapenos, thai chilies (bird peppers), cayenne and tabasco readily available on hand.

i love making my own spices, a killer one i made recently:
- habanero peppers
- garlic
- shallots
- vinegar
- lime juice
- salt & pepper
- sugar

siracha is like ketchup to me now lol

Posted by FuzzQi on Aug-23-2014 04:48:

Just eat cucumber to cool it down on the way out

Posted by sensorium on Aug-23-2014 07:58:

My ancestors ate everything spicy, so it was only my destiny to put spices in everything. There's something truly special about eating french fries with homemade hot sauce. Ketchup? No, sir, there's Aztec blood in me.

Just ordered some Sichuan food. The combination of chilies and oil should make for an interesting shit. I will post the after pics.

Your recipe is not making spices, it is making a condiment.

I didn't mean that my recipe would create something that could be put on a spice rack but I wouldn't call it a condiment either. Condiment brings things like ketchip, mayo, mustard to mind. The hot pepper paste only requires a pea sized amount as opposed to squeezing a bunch of relish out of a bottle.

What dish did you order? When I was in Shanghai, the Szechuan restaurant I went to had hundreds of numbing peppercorns in their dishes and so much chili oil.

Posted by Dykes_on_Jay on Aug-23-2014 11:21:

It is a condiment, at best a sauce.

Making spice involves dry ingredients only.

I ordered a bunch of stuff, the best things I can't order as they do not deliver well (think fish poached in oil with peppercorns and chilies.) Chinese food is atrocious, but sometimes there is no choice.

The spiciness is the only redeeming thing about the food. It all comes out as liquid the next day. This is not a product of Chinese cuisine, but a product of how incompetent the Chinese are at doing anything.

Chinese food done right is win...however they are simply unable to do anything right due to a complete lack of caring.

It is sad honestly.

Depends on the culture. The North East and South East US gravitate towards using less spice. We had to ask for extremely hot this one time at an Indian joint in Miami Beach.

The South West and Western US have greater affinity towards spicy food, it's proximity to Mexico is partly to blame. I love it, but I can't keep up with my boyfriend, he likes his food really, really hot!

Like ohh sooooo hooot

some dude at work by the way gave me a cautionary tale fellas.

this guy was a spice master/machine. he actually had a massive ulcer from all the spices he had ingested over years. they had to put him in surgery to repair it. apparently he cant taste very much of anything now and he no longer can eat anything spicy.

im not sure how much i believe him but thats the story i was told.

What was he eating though? Blair's mega death sauces?

Re: Do humans like spicy food because it hurts to poop?

What a strange theory. Volcanic rectal activity almost makes me regret having eaten spicy food, almost. But I enjoy it so much that it's worth the pain.

Not being able to stand spicy food is not cuz someone's a pussy or something. Some people just can't take it. Personally, I love spicy food and it doesn't really make me live on the toilet bowl either
Eating some "suicide chicken wings" right now

Posted by PaULiN0 on Aug-25-2014 04:19:

I noticed spicy food makes me tear alot so its hard for me to enjoy.

been digging Sichuan stuff lately...this spot by me has a lot of it that has that tingly-spicy flavor. a real kick... something called 'diced rabbit with little sister's secret recipe' and some toothtpick lamb, then the obvious stuff--the fish in super red broth and whatnot. I'm always partial to the sichuan dumplings...

gotta visit China asap - my gf always raves about the street food. says it's delicious even though you know it's probably rat or cat or dog and that the sauce is probably straight from the 9th circle of hell.
