SYSTEM-JonDC - Just Cuz You're In The Chill Out Room...

...Doesn't Mean You Need To Lose The Trance Trousers.

So this weekend I went down to Birmingham for a night out with Jon Cockle, and I ended up bringing my CD wallet to have an impromptu mix before we went out. Then we decided halfway through that Jon could take over where I left off, and the result is a four hour epic of a set that goes all the way from beatless atmospherics through cinematic psy-chill and spaced out trance right through to peak time thumpers.

Mixed live and unrehearsed using Jon's Pioneer CDJ 350s and DJM-350 mixer, at least 13 cans of Stella and a distinctly overpriced chorizo and manchego pizza. If anyone listens to this all in one sitting we'll send you a medal.

Bloody outrageous that was. I mean, it tasted ok but it was never worth 4.50

I'll try this. Might be 1 hour at a time over a 4 day span but I'll do my best

So I actually did manage to listen to all of this in one go, yesterday. I greatly enjoyed it! I was thinking there would be a big obvious breach from when the decks were handed over to Jon, but your gradual building up of the downtempo stuff, plus the tracks you were using, meant that I'm not actually sure when the handover was.

Lots of tasty tunes, some I was familiar with, and many I wasn't. A great progression throughout, although I think Jon could have played one or two modern Platipus tracks or some classics in the peak time section, but that's obviously coming from my personal bias

I'd like my medal, now, thank you

When you've moved back over here you're welcome to come up to Leeds for the weekend and stay in our spare room. How's that?

Or be suddenly woken up because a prospective tenant is unexpectedly being shown around the house...

LOL, nice

IMO, you should have hidden in a closet and jumped out at the realtors, Begbie/Sick Boy style.

How rude! You should let me come out clubbing too, it would be fu(king grim staying locked away in your spare room

Anyway, I actually agree Lews and I wish I hadn't gone down the no nonsense dance music route from tracks 29 - 33. It would have been much better to keep the lush spacey vibe throughout. However, I was quite drunk and fancied a change!

I refuse to believe this

He was literally dancing on the table during Summer at the end.

Sounds good! As long as we stay away from chorizo and manchego pizzas... I've heard bad things.

Visa just got issued, btw, so I will for sure be living in London in two weeks - assuming no heart attacks / wild animal attacks.

I managed to get through this in one sitting (barring toilet breaks) and so I will be expecting my medal in the post.

I really enjoyed it, cracking tunes throughout and very well paced I thought. Mixing was as smooth as one would expect from you two. Time flew by as I was listening, which I think is the sign of a great mix. Thought I was less than halfway through and was shocked to look at the play indicator to see I only had 40 mins to go!

Top stuff, would probably have this on again for churning out reports etc at work

Cheers Dave. This is basically just me test-driving the kind of set I'd play if I got booked for the chill-out room of a psy event, the only scene that still seems to have chill-out rooms.

I like the looks of this. Intriguing. DLing now with the hope that I'll have a chance to listen to the entire 4 hours tomorrow. Thank you for sharing!
