thanks man - i will have a look at these.

The timing with external instruments in Live is really getting me down, it might actually push me towards Bitwig where the timing seems much better :-/

Ive been interested in Bitwig since I first heard about it for various reasons may to to demo it out.

I am somewhat cautious about buying a 1.0 release of a new DAW though.

couldnt be much worse than Ableton Live anyway. What a great piece of software for making music but its just ruined by bugs and crashes

(yes, its just crashed on me and i lost 30 mins of what would have been a nice tune)

I like what I see so far, but there are some obvious bugs I am having which are rather annoying. No crashes yet. The most annoying bug is often after closing a VST window you can't reenable the UI, you have to reload the entire plugin.

The workflow for multi monitor is amazing on Bitwig. I got 3 23" LCDs and Bitwig makes the most of all of them.

I probably would like Live as well as I am finding the part recording workflow much more to my liking in bitwig.

So I picked up Bitwig, don't regret it one bit. I still like using Reaper for some things that require advanced routing, but the workflow and UI of Bitwig is just impeccable in many ways, IMO.

Of course, I never really gave Live a chance about 4 years ago during my first attempt so I am sure many things I like about Bitwig are in Live as well.

Anyways point being I am spending less time screwing with UI / context menus / project setup and more time recording parts and sequencing them into music.

The only major weakness I have run into so far is the lack of multi-out support which they said will be addressed in 1.1.
