Stylus Preasure Ring ...
Hi Guys, I actually read some threads about Tonearm and Stylus preasure Settings, but What I want to know is How to set the Stylus Preasure Ring?.. I mean, How do I know where is set to ZERO, so, after I know where ZERO is, I can Modify the Wheight depending of the Cartridge.. Well Thats all, AlL i wanna know is how to set the Stylus Preasur Ring Numbres, I was thinking putting all the Preasure and put the number to 3.9 , but i dont know, Well.. I hope your help,
Thanks in Advance
Carlos.
To get the 0 setting you need to balance the tonearm so that it is completely horizontal over the platter with the cartridge on one end and the weight on the other end. Once you have it horizontal move the ring to 0 and that is your 0 gram setting. Then you adjust to what ever weight is required for your stylus.
does that make any sense??
Well, thanks to u and to Mongeone for helping me, but I think i dont totally get it, I even see a video.. but when u say horizontal move.. u mean... that the tonearm must be like flying??..and the move that the tonearm do.. must be extrictly Vertically?.. cuz my tonearm moves up and down.. but in direction to the platter.. i made the setting to ZERO when the tonearm moves a little in the air.. and slowly goes like flyig to the platter.. u think is right?
Thanks
OK...take the tonarm of its resting bracket. Then when you look at your turntable from a side on view. The tonearm should be completely level. If its lower on the catridge end back of the weight a little and if the cartridge is up in the air increase the weight. Once you have it completely level set the ring to 0.
Be careful when you're doing this to make sure your stylus end doesn't drop to low and hit the platter as you may damage it.

| Originally posted by CarlosM OK, Supostly, I have Set the Ring to 0, and I have the tonearm Locked with the little switch.. so.. if the setting is right.. what should Happen when I take the Secure Switch Off??... I mean.. should the Tonearm take off of the little base of the tonearm??.. should move a little but inside the little Tonearm base??.. or must dont move at all?? |

In relation to looking down on the platter when you take the tonearm off its resting point it should stay where you put it and not drift from side to side. But when you look at it from the side on it should be horizontally level!! That is the 0 setting. |
when you take the lock of the tonearm it should be floating level over the platter. Then you need to weight it according to the specs of your cartridges/styli.
Im kinda confused about this too.
I have gotten the arm to be level, kinda floating in the air and
then set the ring so that "0" is 90 degrees up.
But now what ?
How do I know how much weight I put on the arm ?
If I screw the weight in some its all depending on how hard I
press the weight and how fast i screw it.. is it any detailed
instructions avaible on how to do this right ?

OK, I think I have Balanced the Tonearm, However, My Stylus/Cartridge Instruction just says about the Height Position but Doesnt says nothing about the Weight, the cartridges are:
Stanton 680 EL II If some1 knows about the Wheight setting of this Cartridge let me know.
Thanks fzrr for all the help.
