X-Press 2 uses 6 decks during a live show.. three people, two decks each..

But I agree with you... This is pretty over the top imo

Posted by escee on Oct-16-2002 17:24:

holy shit thats amazing!

Posted by Spective on Oct-16-2002 21:08:

The point of having 8 turntables, is because if you look closely, there are 4 different types of mixers. Obviously they need to surround the booth with turntables, to accomodate for the position of whichever mixer the DJ wants to use.

Posted by webbie on Oct-16-2002 21:21:

Isnt there three mixers ?
The one in the middle looks like a dual cdplayer, two jogwheels
and stuff.
And the thing to the left of it looks more like a DSP mixer, but
im prolly wrong.

Cool that they have modded two of the decks with blue lights tho.

Posted by Az on Oct-16-2002 21:51:

there's 2 4 channel mixers, an Amp, and a dual CD player., with a Pioneer CD mathingy on the record box....nice set up

Nope they have not modded those decks, those decks are stanton str8-100's not techincs, thats a pretty old pic too as now MoS have more than just those 2 str8-100's

They recently upgraded thier sound systems at the MoS, those mixers u see and DSP's are able to control the sound in every part of the club, for example when u are outside they can pipe the sound from any of the 3 rooms to the outside speakers, the same for the ViP lounge and chill out area, they can even pipe the sound from the main room into say the baby box, or vice versa, from the one desk they have total control over every sound and where it is heard.

by the way want to see those decks with the blue lights on a bit closer ?

Here are MY decks, stanton str8-100's

wicked neo how much does it cost to get a pair of those?

i'm thinking of buying some =D

Well seeing as u are in canada, it will prolly be more acurate if u was to check a local dealer for prices, but in UK they cost about the same as technics 1200's.

Mine were 330 each plus another 140 for the carts (stanton discmaster II's)

IMO these decks are far superior to the technics, direct drive of course, good starting torque, pitch is adjustable right up to + / -25%, digital input, key correction etc.
there is 2 versions available, the ST8-100 with the more familiar 'S' shaped tone arm or the version i have which is the STR8-100 with a straight tone arm.

DJ Sunburn: i used to use Technics 1200's Mk2's but sold them right after playing with the stantons, i still have a Mk3 thou as a spare deck.

Nope, i don't scratch, str8 tone arms are better for scratch dj's yes but i prefer the str8 tone arm over the 's' tone arm for various reasons inclu u dont have to mess with antiskate with str8 tone arms, the angle of the styli u dont have to adjust, more able to manipulate the vinyl, less wear on your vinyl too with a str8 tonearm.
