in addition to trance...

ALTHOUGH, i know this is strictly TRANCEADDICT...
there are blurred boundaries between the other subgenres and such..
people always asking about breaks, psy, progressive and such..
so why not make another music forums with those particular categories..

it will first of all clear out all the non trance questions from the music forum..

actually, second thought i dont know how efficient this will be

its a good idea but its not that much harm having "trancey" genres discussed in MD compared to how much people may moan at people posting the wrong music type in the wrong music type forum if you catch my drift?

Cool

i think music discussion just basically needs reforming as most of the posts are n00bs trying to make their mark or just random crap, thing is everybody follows the first reply which basically fucks the whole idea of opinions which is why so many become flames. i have no idea how it could really be sorted.

exactly. I remember this idea being put forward before.. and well for example if a track is borderline Techno/Trance i no for sure i cant be assed having to worry about what forum i stick it in, and i no even more so that i cant be assed with getting flamed for putting a tune in the wrong forum. Music Discussion is for all genres u mentioned above, ie. breaks, psy, progressive, etc. so i say stick with that.

nod.

We dont mind MD being used for any kind of electronic genre, it just a bit worrying when someone asks about alternative, or garage or something, hehe

Actually, I guess half of the threads I created at md must've been about drum'n'bass and techno... and it was OK Wasn't it?

well those are both sub-genres, or are at least related to Trance. Especially Techno. I think fly means when people start discussing classical, and country western that people start to think... hmmm.. what r u doing here???

Posted by verminator on Oct-17-2002 14:51:

wtf?

smoked pot or something?

techno and d'n'b sub-genres of trance??? LOL hehe

not at all!

those are so different from trance as you get it

the opposite

but still
i'd like to have a techno only section where i dont have to look through 1000000s of threads "what is your favourite trance moment in 2002?" etc each day to find ONE thread that actually interests me

yes ur rite.. which is why i disagreed with myself and said they are related. I didnt word it very well i no but to tell the truth im f00king knackered But what i meant was Trance, Techno, Drum n Bass, House, Prog, etc all are related in that they hav a few common factors, of being able to dance to, usually a faster beat, and some other shared elements. All of which are acceptable to be discussed here on TA.com..

eh? where does maaz say those were sub-genres? but music discussion is music discussion. everything runs smoothly most of the time in there.

More sub genres of electronic music

But chat about garage music or rock would be a bid odd, so as long as it is in the electronic music range

BINGO!! thats the word i was after. heh.

Posted by verminator on Oct-17-2002 17:03:

hmm

it was supposed to be a joke/irony

but seemed a bit too advanced?

anyways, "no hard feelings" hehe

@lynx:

ya, everything runs pretty smoothly for those who actually find all the threads interesting

the things i miss are sections that are more specified on several different genres

i kind feal i can't learn much more about trance now
and finding a thread about other genres, which is good, in the music discussion section ain't easy

maybe you and the rest of the majority find threads like "what is your fav song so far in 2002"x10(with just a few small edits on the question) interesting, but for me .. this is "shit"

and i know lots of other peeps also feel the same.
you might say that i can for example use the senior chill out or something instead, but then again, not everyone who i think have the knowledge to contribute to for example a techno section got access to that section, and im back were i begun.. curious on something i cant find an answer on in the music discussion section or something similiar

wiht other words, i feel it better to have subsections about some of the bigger genres if you want the users to actually learn more about the electronic music and its genres

im not saying that you should make one for every single genre of electronic music, but you can try out with a few, like for example (house / techno&dnb / etc) , so you keep it as the larger genres for theirselves

as a result of the lack of sections like these, you get lots of peeps(including me) posting lots of "rubbish/nonsense" in the "un-interesting" threads in the music discussion section

this is at least my view on this case

try out as a "beta thing" with maybe a limited amount of members with access to see if it works

i know you aint the man to ask for this, but you do got better influence on swamper on these kind of questions/suggestions that the rest of the non.moderators, and using the mods is a good way to come through to the admin

anyways, im out

greets!!

(jeasus... lots of long replies by me today.. sorry if it became kinda messy and unorganized.. i have this thing which makes me write weird things when i write much urk)

wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

/me out

Very true, and MD forum is exactly that, music discussion, there have been many non trance related threads in MD, everything from soul to pop, from classical to yes even rock.
Many producers have remixed classical tracks, rock tracks etc so they all have a place in MD.
IMO having many forums, each split into a seperate genre would only cause confusion and as dumonde_trancer said, posts where ppl just reply with 'wrong forum sucker' or words to that effect.

Music Discussion

This is where you can talk about Trance, or any electronic music.
