I do not look forward to having kids. The closer I get to not being able to have them at all, the less I care if I will be able to. Lulz.

Aw, poor butthurt little homo.

At least your post is actually relevant to the conversation and not a lame attempt to gain attention for once. I'm good at the Internet, much better than you.

Having kids is pretty awesome. I mean, he doesn't do much but shit, eat, and sleep at the moment, however he makes a great paperweight on those breezy days.

Jenny. Go to Jiffy Lube...they will fix that shit right up. You know you want one.

If Slylee can do it, so can you. Will you really be outdone by slylee? That kid is going to be a genius lol.

I really don't though. I have a few more years to figure it out. But RIGHT now? Def not. I'm sure once my debt is paid and I'm married I'll feel differently.

Posted by Dykes_on_Jay on Sep-28-2014 04:59:

I'm just busting your balls, because at the moment my appendage currently resembles a washed up prize fighter that everyone seems to have forgotten about.

I'm 33. I have a few years still. Lots of women are having kids later. Again, I still have debt and am not married yet. Two things I need finished before I even entertain the idea of kids.

If you're the product of a 20-something mother, you're just further proof to me that having your kids later in life is a good idea.

My sister had her first one at 35, her third one at 38, and my mom had me at age 40. Honestly I'm pretty happy I was born to relatively old parents; stable home, with stable income, and a peaceful childhood in general. Now I have two almost 70-year olds to talk to when I go visit home

I just don't see the point of having a kid for the sake of passing on your genes anymore. Cliched as it may sound, I'll provide my offspring a stable and safe childhood or none at all. Also - of course - I'm scared of having children.

Edit: and this is of course not to say that a young couple couldn't raise a child.

Having kids later means they will be younger and probably less financially capable when they have to deal with caring for you as you get feeble and die (or tossing you in a nursing home, whatever).

It also probably means you will have less energy to deal with their childish shenanigans and on some level have a harder time relating to all their youthful dramas because your analogous experiences and emotions happened further in the past (compared to a younger parent).

I know everyone reading this (and their parents, too) is an exception to these generalizations. And it's possible that the advantages of being established in your career and being more emotionally and financially stable weigh more in the balance. But just some stuff to ponder, anyway.

Posted by OrangestO on Sep-28-2014 22:40:

Huh?

That's one way to look at it, I guess.

There are definitely more advantages to having kids later than having them early, in my opinion. Way more.

I'd rather figure myself out/experience all I can before I bring another life into this world.

Sure, you'll be younger when they get older and be able to "keep up."

Then again, why would you have to keep up if you've taught them well because of your wisdom and age.

It's easy to have a kid unplanned when you're young and claim it's better. Whatever makes you feel better. And I don't blame you. But that doesn't mean fixing your own issues before you bring life into this world and having kids when you're older is worse off.

Posted by OrangestO on Sep-28-2014 22:41:

Ah. Read the end of your post.

My bad. Ranting and raving.

I just see way too many people having kids young. It's an awesome thing and a lot of them mature because of it, but they sure seem to miss out on a lot that's "out there."

Procreation is the meaning, though, eh?

I don't think so, so maybe that's why I say what I say.

I don't want to upload my issues onto my kids. My future seeds will be better off for it.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Sep-28-2014 23:52:

I really don't see why it requires explanation at all. So many people spend a lot of time justifying their decision to have or not have kids. At the end of the day, I'm not going to do something if it doesn't feel right for myself/if I don't have a gut desire for it.

Posted by OrangestO on Sep-29-2014 00:04:

Most people have kids without the intention to, anyways.

I'd say if you're in your mid-to-late 20s without kids you've already won the game.
