Such a shame that this
Turned to this
I might go check it out tomorrow.
Unfortunately, this will not change anything. China won't back down.

A lot of recent movies set in the future take place in a "democratic" China, with Americans having apartments and lofts there, hmmm
Slim chance. The expat community does not generally get involved with politics. It is not their fight. Democracy for HK I get, but in mainland China it simply will not happen for a while if ever. Without trying to offend any mainlanders, I firmly that believe that China isn't ready for democracy.
I'm for democracy, but I'm not Chinese.
Much like the foreigners working in, say, UAE or Qatar.
Get what you can while that construction bubble is still good, dudes.

They would slaughter each other with more freedom, trust me. They are pretty damn free in a lot of respects. Capitalism like you have never imagined before; corruption and greed are rampant.
I believe there would be more order as is, as the opposite would be akin to something out of Gangs of New York.
The Chinese at large, in my experience, don't really give a damn. They are all about the kuai. Status quo for the nouveau middle class.
Hong Kong should receive what it was promised, but I can guarantee that it will not happen.
