Trance on a downward spiral?

Good lawd, is it just me or does trance suck nowadays? All these corny vocal trance makes my stomach turn worse than going twice on a teacup ride with my little nephew. My gawd every time I hear these cheesy vocal trance my whole body shivers with cheesiness, to the point where the hair on my head stands up and I need a packet of Gladlock bags by my side just in case I vomit.

WTH happen to some of that ol' classic sounds of Paul Van Dyk Trance Energy/Essential mixes? Today's trance music makes me embarrass to be associated with it.

I guess the good thing is all the posers have jumped off the Trance bandwagon and into 'Dubstep' now, still, trance today is full of commercial sounds. Yuck!

Sorry but, the trance music today just doesn't give you that ol' feeling where the music sends you off into space and beyond and makes your ballz tingle with joy and happiness! Ya'll know what I'm talkin' about..... that vibe that true trance people 'understand'.

Today's trance is like music that's being played in a GAP department store while I'm trying to convince myself that I can fit in a t-shirt that is 2 sizes too small (Still lookin' good in it though, I might add).

You'll never get that 90's feeling again I guess. Get over it and stop complaining. Search for what you do like, there still is plenty you haven't heard.

Yes of course it does, it sounds the same (with a slightly different melody) as 15 years ago meanwhile. I don't know why people expect progression in trance while there is close to none in other genres as well.
Like 10 years ago, I'm not expecting anything spectacular to happen in trance, but I'm surprised about the still huge number of uplifting tracks made nowadays. Also about the number of people following it. The number of new producers I never heard of increases week by week.

But can you really compare any Trance tracks of today to something like Moogwai - Viola or Slipstream - Krakatao, from 14 years ago? The latter is what they played at Electric Daisy Carnival in 2000, as opposed to the Ping Pong Trance played there now. I've yet to hear something remotely as memorable or emotive, and I don't think it's only my nostalgia speaking.

I agree.

As a bonus, there was a degree of introspection that some of those tracks could deliver to the listener... those are very rare now.

Pot always helped me find trance to be more introspective. It also helped me to manicure the lawn like a fuckin' golf course!

But those are not really uplifting, which I was referring to. For uplifting IMO it's not that different from e.g. Apoptygma Berzerk � Kathy's Song (Ferry Corsten Remix) 2001.
RAM & Stine Grove - RAMore also to me sounds like the anthem of a decade ago.
