Wink Tiesto/Edgar V in DC last night, PLUS I really need a tune name...

Hey guys.

I saw DJ Tiesto and Edgar V at Glow in Washington, DC last night.. Oh man. I guess you can really tell the difference between a hangout club (such as Platinum) and a dance club (such as Zei, the host of Glow). The attitude was completely different.. everyone at Glow danced well and had fun.

Tiesto is awesome live, but Edgar V kicked ass too. I've seen his name somewhere before, but I never expected that level of quality from him live. Very cool stuff.

Was anyone else there? Post something, tell us what you thought of the event yourself..

One final thing. As soon as Tiesto got off, Edgar V played a really awesome song as an intro.. my memory is all fuzzy, but the track had a deep male voice saying "f-ing" and "shit" along the lines "how do I deal with this shit every f-ing day" or something like that. Does anyone know what song I am talking about?

Cool Tiesto review

Tiesto rocked DC last night! He played a great set. The coolest part was that I got to meet him and talk to him for a long time. I went to the VIP section and he was just hanging out behind the DJ booth. No one had really noticed him by that point so I started talking to him and Ernie, one of the Black Hole guys. They were really cool. Tiesto was super nice. He told me that Magik 7 will probably be out in about 8 weeks. He recorded 1 cd to put out, and one for himself at the LA show. Urban Train will get a summer release but he has no idea when. He also said he is working hard on a lot of individual projects because he has tons of ideas in his head that he hasn't gottena chance to work on. So, don't look for any new Gouryella or the like anytime soon.

Tiesto was really excited about being in the US. He said he has always dreamed of coming here and to do it as a DJ is really cool. I'll try to remember some of the tracks he played:

Aria - Dido
Utah Saints - Lost Vagueness
Insigma - Open Your Eyes
Yahel - Voyage
Flight 643
Urban Train
Schiller - Das Glockenspiel
Riva - Stringer
Jan Johnson - Flesh

there were more but that's all I can remember in my post-party haze.

Egdar V was pretty cool too. Nennon, I remember that track "Why do I always feel like fucking shit?" but I don't know the name. It looked like a promo. Edgar V stopped playing after 2 hours because he didn't like the crowd. I heard him arguing with one of the guys from the club. The place was filled with gay guys mugging on the floor at about 4:30, and I guess he didn't like it too much. We left pretty much after Edgar V left. All in all, a very cool party. Tiesto was the nicest guy and I had a great time talking to him and Ernie. For anyone that was there, I had a Black Hole t-shirt on and was behind the DJ booth most of the time.

TIesto was pretty good last nite.. He played alot of stuff that really pumped the crowd up..

But I didnt really like the place he was spinning at ..Why is Tiesto spinning at ZEi?? that place is so horrible.. The sound system is shitty.. terrible crowds (alot of drunk clubbers).. lighting effects are terrible~ just not really a good venue.. I mean i wouldnt even go there if not for tiesto...

It would hab been sooo much better if BUZZ had gotten him to spin at nations, rather then that hellhole.. good god!

PS. I saw Timo Maas spin the nite b4 at nations, and he ripped the place up.. better then tiesto, i believe..

The gay thing is funny.. I went to Glow with friend who's been there once before (to see ATB), and he certainly wasn't expecting the dance floor to go gay so quickly around 4:30..

He said that he went downstairs to the basement to chill out, and took off his shirt without realizing what signal that would send to the people around him.. he went back up 20 minutes later and 5 different guys hit on him and tried to grind with him.. LOL.

He got some action at Platinum on Friday night from some serious hottie girl, and I was joking that he's such a chick magnet.. after Glow, I just kept laughing about him being an equally good guy magnet.. He got more attention from guys at Glow than he did from girls at Platinum.

Oh well

I had a blast though.. and the music was definitely great. Is Buzz at Nation anything like Glow?

Good GOd no! Buzz is so much better in every aspect. The sound system is great (not as good as Phazon at Twilo, but pretty good), Place is HUGE.. Huge Main floor, small drum and BAss front room, Outdoor Patio, 7 bars, Lighting effects are awesome! and plus they get Top DJs every week.. (woo hoo~ Dave seaman, Tall paul, luke slater, Frankie bones, DIeselboy, DAve ralph next month =)

ALso, the atmostphere is sooooo much different.. more of a raver crowd then Clubbers (platinum & glow are just soo gay).. its mainly a college crowd~

GOD I wish Tiesto had spun there.. it would hab been nuts!!
WHy such quality DJs like tiesto, edgar, Kimball collins, decided to spin at GLOW is beyond me..

Tiesto was great. He really know how dive the crowd crazy. it was nice that he start it with aria-dido. the best song was jan johson-flesh and Moogwai - Viola (Armin van Buuren Mix), those two really really got the crowd going. i did not rememerb hearing Insigma-Open Your Eyes (Insigma Mix). the only problem with Zei, is that is too hot, crowded, $$$ for drinks and why was there a long too get in for regular people? and the laser/flashing light was kind of week compare to sensations.

Is anyone going to the Odyssy thing this weekend?

Talking track

Hey Nennon- now that i think about it, that track you're looking for was on the Subliminal label. I remember seeing it. Maybe that will help a little bit.

It's on Subliminal.

Song name?

Do you have an exact song name? That album is not available on Audiogalaxy, and I am guessing that Napster does not have the whole thing either.

I really need something more to go with, although I appreciate the info I've been given already.

Thanks,
Nennon

It's not an album. Those relatively new tracks.

Harry Choo Choo Romero (Artist)- Beats Vol. 1 or 2 (track names)

Idea black hole t-shirt

I got mine when I was in Holland this past summer. Ernie (Black Hole guy) was wearing one of the new Wildlife shirts in DC. It was pretty cool, if you can find that one.

I went to Club Zei for the first time, to see Tiesto. I saw him 2 months ago @Limelight, NYC. He ripped it in NYC. My girlfriend and I were hanging out with him for like a half hour before he went on. I bought him a drink. We took a few pictures too. It was funny that hardly no one really knew who he was. Only like 2 or 3 people came up to him the entire time we were talking to him. He was definitely disappointed with the size of the club, not to mention the crowd. I thought his track selection was average at best. He wasn't really into it, and I can't blame him. The crowd was horrible. I woudln't waste any gems on them either. We happened to stay at the same hotel as Tiesto & Ernie, and actually caught the elevator with them. Tiesto was definitely tired, and disappointed. It was cool to meet both of them, and give them some insight on America & NYC clubs, etc...
On another note, I was impressed with Kimball Collins set. First time hearing him, and he played some good tracks. There was this one vocal track he played in the middle of his set, w/ a female vocal, that was in my head all weekend, anyone happen to know what it is? She is singing about love or something, unbreak something blah blah blah. Let me know if you have any info on that track, thanks.

Shame / Disagreement It's not Star 69

I'm not 110% postive its Harry Choo Choo Romero- Beats Vol.1 (Subliminal).

Cool Tiesto & Collins & Edgar V at Zei, in DC

I also was there when Tiesto came to DC (Zei).

Unlike most people I didn't really like Tiesto's or Collins' sets, I thought there was very little variety and the overall atmosphere was WAY to bassy, almost no melody could be heard, just drum-n-bass, so eventually it ended up sounding all the same to me. In fact after some time I could no longer distinguish the individual styles of these DJs -- Edgar V, Collins, and Tiesto, although I respect Collins and Tiesto very much. I have Collins' ICU Gen. Trance and Tiesto's Summerbreeze, among others.

OK, now I have a question for you. I remember there was one very cool song that Kimball Collins played in his set. There was a lot of funky synths, and the lyrics were something like this: "Aggressive (behavior?)... I still know (??)... Are you ready... aggressive [something]."

Does anyone remember that, or know the name of the song?

I invite everyone to share their opinions about that night, because there was a big difference between VIP land and the normal dancefloor...
