Okay, trancEaddicts, you think you know what's the best DJ headphones that you heard - but I have a question for you:

What is the crappiest (or worst) DJ headphone that you've ever heard - or have heard recently?

And please BE HONEST! Don't just bash headphones that you've never heard.

Are we excluding multi purpose studio monitoring headphones like the V6 or HD280's and just choosing those models advertised directly for DJs?? or does this encompass everything?

I mean those headphones marketed as "bona-fide" DJ headphones (and not studio-monitoring 'phones that can be used for DJing).

Dunno then...the only DJ headphones i've tried are the Senns HD25, HD25 SP1 and Technics RPDJ1200 and i liked all of them.

I count myself out of this poll, too; I've heard only two of the so-called "bona-fide" DJ headphones (the Sony MDR-V500DJ and the MDR-V700DJ). Neither of those two impressed me much.

But then again I haven't heard any other brand or model of "DJ" headphones, so my answer for now is "Inconclusive".

i bought these for $20 from dick smith electronics while i was waiting for me technics headphones to come in..

i'd have to say these are the worst i've ever seen/used

I had these old panasonic headphones and they suck. After i got the Mdr-v700 and it blew me away.

i have mdr-v500dj and for 60 $ they do the job right
theyre not perfect but theyre small and they sound great

The only problem with those is that they are worth maybe $25 USD.. just to 'get the job done', and not to actually, you know, get the job done *well*...

hehehe I was just about to say Sony MDR-V500 "DJ"... a local record shop has them on their decks, I hate using those..

Why? Crappy build, crappy sound, crappy isolation, oozing with crapness... Of course, if you don't know much better then it's "okay" I guess. But definitely don't bring them to the club.

Even the V700's are better, which tells you something.

Sony MDR v500 , they dont isolate, you just cant hear it , i also used the V700 but that one worked fine

Afternative, you're in Europe... you SO have to check out the Sennheiser HD25, or for a studio-ish version, the HD280 Pro...

i actually find them not too shabby
they dont' isolate that well granted... i know from experience, had to crank em up when playing at a club
but for just spinning at home, i find they are great
i really don't give a shit about bass response anymore, cause i mix using the high end, and these do the job fine
once i start playing out more i'm going to have to get a set of headphones that isolate better

i'd really recommand the HD280's then, man i wear those on my head all day long... great sound quality when listening to some music while doing hw. for DJ'ing the isolate so well its not even funny. my roomate always sneaks up behind me and touches me, i jump a mile high cause i didnt even hear him come in. also i've missed phone calls cause the cans isolated so well, and my phone is only 5 ft away! only draw back is the bass gets a little weak in a loud club environment, and its true... but since you DJ with the highs as i've gotten acustumed too, they can really kick some ass.

anyways back to the topic - crap cans! well these arent DJ's headphones but the first ever ones i used were philips talk abuot some shitty headphones!

That's right. If you beatmatch with the upper mids/lower highs (and not just the bass), then it's well worth the extra $10 to $20 over those craptastic Sony V500's. The chain musical-instrument/pro-audio stores tend to charge $89.99 or $99.99 for the HD280's, but charge the FULL MSRP ($79.99) for those V500's!! You can do WAY better that those V500's for a few $$$ more!
