Hello! Ziptnf - Complex Mathematics [maximum power psytrance] **farewell mix!**

This mix represents the last entry in the mathetmatic psytrance trilogy, and my final effort at blasting out some heavy duty psytrance. I think I'm going to take a much needed break after this mix. I originally started mixing because nobody else was playing what I wanted to hear. Right now I need to find new inspiration, because when I keep playing the same type of stuff every year, I can't stay interested. I've pumped out over 60 mixes in the past 6 years, and I felt that I might as well finish where I started. My very first mix was called Midnight Complex (it was terrible, don't bother listening) so the title pays some homage to that very first mix. I also find it highlights my overall taste; high variety, complexity, and energy. So I'm going out with a bang. This one is packed with the best psytrance I could find from 2014. Huge amounts of energy in this one, and I hope I'm sending you guys off right! I'm not retiring forever, you may see a mix or two pop up from me in the future but this is the end of Ziptnf for now.

CPU & A-Team - Born Too High (SynSUN Remix) [Mainstage]
Hyperactive vs Vibraddict - Hyper Addicted [Free Minds]

Brain Attack - Break The Show [Mechanik]
Acidbrain - Made in Carvalhais [Biomechanix]

Brainwash vs Alienn - First Level of Storm [Fractal]
Brainwash vs Alienn - Cooking Is Art [Kaos Krew]

Will give it a spin, was just listening to your old Magic treasure mix actually.

Good luck. Ive enjoyed many of your mixes these past few years. Sorry to see you go.

Thanks Lilith! If someone asked me to give them just one mix that I liked the most, I would probably give them that one. Glad you liked it so much that you gave it multiple listens. This one is quite different so I hope you enjoy this one as well.

Thanks gents. I just need a break for a while. Gotta focus on some other stuff in my life. I'm sure I'll be back with more mixes someday but right now I'm gonna stop.

After taking a listen to this, I'm quite certain that I've never made something quite as explosive as this. I wish I had a slightly better finisher but I had a decision to make: try to end with energy or try to end with melody. I chose the latter because the only candidate for the former was another Brainwash track Overall I think this one was pretty awesome. I hope everyone else enjoys it!

'Magic Treasury' is definitely one of the best recent (ish?) mixes posted on this board, imo. Top-shelf mix, that.

I'm honestly not going to listen to this, because maximum power psytrance isn't my brand of gin, but I hope you don't give up the mixing game altogether with this. Maybe try some a different genre

I enjoyed quite a few of your mixes ziptnf, the full on one especially comes to mind as it opened my eyes that there was actually some variation in the genre.

Thanks

Good. Stay the fuck out of this thread and any threads I make in the future.

Thanks! (And its Treasure, not a financial department of government )

Yeah, don't listen to this if you're not into the style. A lot of genres just don't interest me to the point where I want to get good at them. House, techno, etc all generally bore me to tears. I've made so many mixes of different genres (look at my set archive if you don't believe me) that I've run out of ideas. I have a couple styles I would take a crack at but maybe some other time.

Thank you for listening over the years! Have you heard this one?

Ok so just to be clear; I understand that etiquette might normally dictate that if I'm not interested or I don't have something positive to say that I shouldn't be posting at all... but you did PM me about your last mix asking me specifically to listen to it so I figured I should post my thoughts before you did it with this mix.

My comment isn't even negative.

And honestly I'm not interested in fights however there's no way to describe your response to the situation apart from exceedingly immature.

Posted by ziptnf on Jan-11-2015 12:47:

I wasn't going to ask you to listen to this, you egotistical douchebag. You always have some kind of shitty nitpicky remark to make about them. Your mixes blow fucking ass and you have some kind of vendetta against me after the first time I sat down and gave an honest and technical critique when Stu asked me to. If anyone is immature, it's you for holding a stupid grudge against me the last year or two. I mean, really, look through my threads and find one comment where you thoroughly enjoyed one of my mixes. There aren't any because you fucking suck and you're a fucking loser. Almost everyone else in this entire forum is generally past the stage of going out of their way to find something about a mix to shit on. So get the fuck out of this thread and don't talk to me ever again.

Posted by Psyshell on Jan-11-2015 13:31:

The idea that me posting a response to your mix when you literally sent me a pm asking me to listen to the last one of yours is egotistical is frankly ridiculous. I'm sorry that you didn't want me to say anything but there's frankly no way I could've known that.

As for there being some sortof grudge/rivalry thing going on, I don't think there is at all, certainly not on my end. The majority of your mixes I haven't been that into, some of the progpsy ones I have liked, I perhaps should've been a bit better in the past (especially 1+ years ago) about not saying anything when there wasn't anything nice to say for which I apologise for, but one thing I most definitely was not doing was holding a grudge or trying to prove a point. For instance, at various times I haven't gotten along with system j and yet that's never stopped me enjoying his mixes so I assure you any comments or opinions have nothing to do with it. I find that only writing negative stuff constantly about someone's mixes is a waste of time, hence why I don't do it at all lately.

At the end of the day I think you're a talented dj who is well respected around here and liked by people with good taste. I've certainly never held any grudges against you and I wish you the best for the future.

Posted by ziptnf on Jan-11-2015 14:19:

Yes, I sent you a PM for the last mix because you used to be into dark shit, but you STILL found a reason to dislike it somehow. I'm tired of you coming into my threads and giving some kind of flippant "not my type" opinion. If you don't fucking like it, don't fucking listen and stop posting. I don't care if the shit I play isn't your favorite style.

I can't believe I'm spending my last thread on here arguing with you. I told you to get the fuck out of my face, and I meant it.

Eat my fucking dick.

Anyway.

Anyone have any actual feedback?

Giving it a full listen through now, perfect music for hacking some python together

Sweet

I'm actually working on improving my Java skills, since college I haven't done any Java programming at work and it's something I miss. I'm looking at getting a job where I would be using Java much more and I really need to brush up. Need to get back on the horse!

Hackathon session completed, proof of concept complete and on github

Yeah, I have never done any enterprise Java stuff but I have done my fair share of Android development professionally.

I did enjoy the mix, really high energy all the way through with alot of mindbending rhythmic stuff and some really memorable samples. You finished off the mix well by dropping a bit more of melodic stuff, I tend to be a sucker for those type of tracks.

Its a fine ending to your mix series!

Thanks for the listen! I'm not ready for this mix to die yet. Any more takers? This mix is killer in the gym or on the treadmill lol

Downloading.

Listening because I've really enjoyed your other mixes, (Yes, Magic Treasure is still a big favourite as is Mech Assassin) this is absolutely mental. I think I'd lose my mind trying to figure out how to mix this stuff but amusingly I'm enjoying working late at night to it

Credit to you for putting together mixes from so many different sub-genres, even ones you're not a fan of. I hope you post more mixes again soon as well!

Posted by ziptnf on Jan-21-2015 16:25:

Awesome! Yeah, I'm a cheater and use the sync button. It's easier for me at those high speeds. I don't use vinyl or CDJ's, just a midi-controller and tracks purchased off Beatport. If that really upsets anyone, they can feel free to delete all my mixes off their harddrive, but I've always felt that the output is more important than the methodology of which you achieve that output. I'm not a club DJ or anything, just a dude who likes electronic music and wanted other people to listen. Cheers for diving into this one, and all my others! Thanks a bunch!!

Last bump before I let this one die!

Posted by Tetsuo_Shima on Feb-19-2015 16:15:

Really sad to hear you'll be chucking it (at least for the time-being).

I was never the biggest fan of the heavy duty psy stuff but you had a crack at some really interesting genres which kept my tastes from stagnating. Favourites of mine include your psy DnB mixes, the chillhop/elevator music of Untold Stories, Digital Force and, of course, your chiptune mixes . Sorry I never got around to giving you some feedback on your last one (Everlasting Adventure), despite promises.

Well,I hope your respite proves fruitful and inspirational, I'm holding out for another 8-bit bleepfest of yours some time in the future For now I've grabbed Magic Treasure on account of the +1s it's getting in here and hope to see you again some time.

Posted by fbgdavidson on Feb-20-2015 06:21:

I've been listening to Nick's Soundcloud page for a while now. Been enjoying lots of the mixes there...

In addition to the much lauded Magic Treasure I've been enjoying Liquid Compounds and Auditory Calculus in particular. All really good stuff. Was afraid to bump time old threads for my (fairly useless) feedback though!

Posted by ziptnf on Feb-21-2015 02:46:

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the kind words. This is a big year for me, I just asked my girlfriend to marry me tonight and she said YES!

A lot of stuff is happening for me this year so I'm not gonna have any time to make any mixes. Maybe next year?
