XBox or PS2 ? Please help...

Well, I've heard a lot of both of them and after playing a few games @ PS2, I decided to buy it. But I can't decide if I should buy PS2 or XBox.

They both r in the same price range. The only difference I know is that ps2 has a lot more games tahn XBox does. But I woulnd't care about the shitty games...

So which ones do u guys recommend? Which one is better in terms of game quality? ( I'll usually play racing games)

neither.. stick with your comp, best gaming machine you can have...

Failing that, i would of gotten a ps2 over the technologically superior but crappy xbox joke any day.. I mean, it's a fucking mini-computer running a modified version of windows CE, for fuck's sake.. Oh, and it's MICROSOFT ;( ;( ;(

hmm... if buyin' a XBox is a better idea, I would buy it. I wouldn't care that it's been produced by Microsoft...

granted i hate microsoft, but the XBox just kicks PS2's ass... I have traditionally loved sony products and really don't care for microsoft, but i have to give microsoft the edge on this one...

XBox's graphics are just so much better, and yes there are less games, but EACH of those games the XBox has are better than 10 PS2 games.... PS2 just puts out so many games (some are good, some are downright SHITTY) JUST so people will think "hey, PS2 has so many more games, i'm gonna get a PS2..." I'd rather stick to the couple of really good games from Xbox...

If you want to compare graphics, just play Halo on XBox, and make your man look down at the grass while you're walking - the rendering is amazing.

if you must get aconsole then i would advise you to get A PS2
1. iv got one my self and think that its amazing
2. X-Box, forget bricks, its a whole building
but thats my opinion.

hehe i remember asking this question here back in july and i finally got a PS2 without regretting i think you should do the same

If you want great games and great graphix go with PS2 but if you want shitty games and amazing graphix go with X-Box

does xbox have GTA?!? no, GT3...no.

sure there are a crapload of of shitty games out on ps2, but there are some amazing ones you wont find anywhere else. personally id get a GC before xbox...and i love my ps2|

after playing Gran Turismo 3 @ PS2, I was really about to buy PS2.

and I have to admit that XBox's graphics r better... but as some of u guys said, it's not just about the quality of graphics, but the games... So, I think I need a few more advices... (I really don't wanna waste my 200-250 $ and than regret, that's why I don't wanna decide quickly)

well what type of games do you like to play? what features are you looking for?

the GC wont play DVDs, the ps2 will, the xbox makes you buy the DVD remote BEFORE it lets you play stuff.

the xbox comes with a harddrive, so you can store music on there and stuff...but again its a console, so all you can do is store and play, no other features like burning. think of the xbox as a pseudo desktop.

further - space is even an issue. the GC is miniscule whereas the xbox is like a friggin VCR.

then again, deliberating too much is almost rediculous. if you LIKE games, and buy GOOD games- for either system - you will be entertained. its more of a personal choice than one based on facts and figures|

Yeah i agree i hate X-box's they are massive and crap

well so far the ps2 has NFS, and the best racing games(GT3(4), F355, etc). GC has the best controller actually, but the sony is the industry standard. add on peripherals is a little murky tho. i imagine the xbox may just support PC shit like that, but then again i think the ps2 does the same with USB.

oh and Virtua Fighter 4 is out on ps2, and its the best fighter ever|

Go for the PS2 for only one reason: Final Fantasy X

i have a gamecube, but i barely play it anymore

PC games are all what i play now, even though ive played about 4 in the last 2 years.

ps2 for sure

the games are way better..

and just look at the games comming out this month. Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Auto Modelista.

those two games are reason enough to buy it.

But yeah, I just realised that I forgot to mention that PS2 has many interesting titles, whereas xbox game selection is eeeky...

well say what you want, but Xbox has the nude volleyball game coming out, and nude skating games....

back in the dorms i used to live in, my roommate had a PS2, and my friend down the hall had Xbox... and i don't have either but i would have gotten the Xbox... they have that virtua-fighter game (whatever its called) on the xbox as well, graphics are AMAZING... you'd get kicked from level to level and it was just unbelievable... granted you don't have GTA or GT3, but oh well.

it basically comes down to which games are your favorite and which system their on i guess.... but PS2 doesn't have HALO - which IMO is one of the best games ever made. I was going to buy Xbox just for that game.

I would take a GameCube over the PS2, and a PS2 over the Xbox. Especially since the Xbox is dying in it's arse everywhere (bar the US).

I'd call the XBOX a better investment, much better technology and hey you can run it as a mp3 server or something on linux now too

xbox is just a 700 computer.....with 1/20000 of what a computer can do

Granted, Xbox has one good reason going for it, and thats Halo. But Halo is coming out on PC, so whats the point of buying an Xbox for it? The controller is absolutely horrible, PS2's is a lot better (although Gamecube has the most comfy controller) and other than Halo, PS2 has waaaaaay better games. Metal Gear Solid 2, for starters. Then you got Gran Turismo 3, Grand Theft Auto 3, Tekken 4, Virtua Fighter 4 (oh, ATB, you're referring to Dead or Alive 3. Other than the bounciness and graphics, there's nothing half-good about that game imo)...anyways, the list goes on and on. Normally, I would argue and say "Get a Gamecube instead" (and DO NOT say its kiddie, cuz there's a lot of games that aren't kiddie, people just don't really see them cause they're not marketed ), but since Nintendo sold Rareware to Microsoft...heh, asses to them.

Get a PS2, it has the least chance of failing, so it's a good investment cause you know the system will be supported by major developers and you're getting a system that you know has a lot of variety, can play DVD's (so can xbox, but with a special remote that u need to buy). Plunk out money on an Xbox if you want 1 good game, "superior" technology and is neck-and-neck with the Gamecube in sales (PS2 is selling better than both the Xbox and Gamecube combined).

ps2 has that bmx xxx game comming out though, which I think is gonna be pretty good

And auto modelista is amazing, I dont know what ur talking about (to whoever said it is bad).

fully customizable cars.. body kits, decals, everything, and then you add online racing to that! it destroys. but we'll really see when it comes out. on november 1st i think?

and if you like realistic racing games better, you always have gt3, which is BY FAR the best racing game ever created.
