VICE Special Report: Killing Cancer

Clinical trials are filmed, where various viruses (Measles, HIV, etc.) are used to kill/suppress cancer cells:

Yeah I heard about this awhile back

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Mar-03-2015 07:01:

i cant wait til they commercialise the treatments so the OP can cry about how evil medical corporations are.

Posted by Alex on Mar-03-2015 12:52:

I heard pkc's tears cure cancer. Too bad he never cries.

not sure where big pharma or med corps play here, it's really just administering a known virus directly into the cancerous tumors, i get someone has to manufacture the virus but the real play here are the doctors who are administering the procedure as most if not all targeted areas require precision. that being said, i couldn't be awake and hear someone drilling into my skull to inject something into a tumor in my brain

Oh yeah, piece of cake. I'm sure.

This is not really something new. The problem with this sort of technology is that we still do not fully understand why certain genes end up producing cancer or as to why cancer-cell inhibiting enzyme stop working. Neither do we know how to target these types of cells specifically. Second of all, most of these mechanisms are extremely toxic for the body - reason why epigenetics has not been able to be fully integrated in this field of research.

Further more, if I'm not mistaken, our oncologi-professor used to say that another big problem is the neoformation vessels which occur together with a malignant tumor.

Too bad the video can't be viewed in my country.

That's very unfortunate. I hope you can find it elsewhere, as I think it's recommended viewing for everyone.

The clinical trials seem to be in the early phases, which is why not many people have been treated yet. So far, however, some have went into full remission and lives were saved (they seemed to have tried every other possible method and have been told death may be imminent). I certainly hope the various doctors and hospitals get funded for further clinical trials and G-d willing more and more lives can be saved.

If you haven't seen it yet, this documentary also features, among others, the girl who was treated for Leukemia with a "disabled form of H.I.V." that was featured on the front page of the New York Times, back in December 2012:

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/10/h...?pagewanted=all

"It is hard to believe, but last spring Emma, then 6, was near death from leukemia. She had relapsed twice after chemotherapy, and doctors had run out of options."

"To perform the treatment, doctors remove millions of the patients T-cells a type of white blood cell and insert new genes that enable the T-cells to kill cancer cells. The technique employs a disabled form of H.I.V. because it is very good at carrying genetic material into T-cells. The new genes program the T-cells to attack B-cells, a normal part of the immune system that turn malignant in leukemia."

Yea, read about that. It was great for the scientific community. Here's a nice article on the market of medication in the US:

I was talking to an anesthesiologist at the hospital roughly a year ago who said that according to a friend of his working for Astra Zeneca, cancer will explode to the degree where roughly 1/3 people will have it.

I just read this: "In the US, men have a 1 in 2 lifetime risk of developing cancer, and for women the risk is 1 in 3."

Big money in citostatic pharma. Curious as to what it the cause of it all.

I actually watched this last night on HBO.

It's fucking incredible. The one using the measles vaccine is probably the most promising thing I've heard of in the medical field since stem cells, and the big point about this is that it's a not a treatment, it's a cure. Yes, a cure for cancer.

The measles one so far (and only 39 people have been allowed to have it) had a staggering 90% full remission. That's 35 terminally ill people who are now cancer free. And by that, they mean, cannot find any cancer cells left. One doc interview states that it was able in one case to eradicate roughly 7lbs of tumors from one person in under a month.

The cold virus one only seems to have about a 15% remission rate so no where near as successful but still, that's quite incredible.

Big pharma is probably terrified of this. Chemo and radiation therapy is a cash cow for them. It costs millions in some cases to treat one person , requires a ton of outpatient care, aftercare and supporting drugs all of which are a nice earner for them.

A single injection that cures it? That's an entire revenue stream down the drain.

That poses another set of problems...

Some years ago there was an Italian who claimed that neoplasms have to do with the pH disturbances in the body (acid, to be more specific) and proposed it could be solved with simple baking soda. Needless to say, he was sued for whatever reason and had his license drawn in.

If this works, it will be patented and sold for big money.

yeah, it was really just a dig at the OP's recent juvenile assertions re big pharma.

So in your opinion big pharma is only interested in your health, regardless of whether or not they make a profit?

For the record, yes, perhaps I ought to have wrote "may," instead of "will."

lol, of course not. there's a myriad of positions between "big pharma are satan" and "big pharma are only interested in my health", though. at least there is when adults do the talking.

Posted by AlphaStarred on Mar-03-2015 23:35:

Perhaps you'd like to share some of those supposed myriad positions with us, then?

For the record, I didn't imply anywhere in my post that pharma companies are necessarily "evil," and I included pharma companies, rehab centers, therapists and psychiatrists en masse. Will it entirely put all these businesses and doctors out of business? No. That was an exaggeration. Will it perhaps put some of them out of business and make a big dent in the profit they're now making by "treating" the myriads of ill people and trying to keep them on meds all their lives? I would certainly think so.

sure.

big pharma certainly don't oppose the legalisation of iboga because such legalisation opens avenues for further research and commercialisation of possible medicinal benefits (ie profits).

(yes I know this isn't the topic of this thread, I am commenting on a previous post of yours.)

Posted by AlphaStarred on Mar-04-2015 00:10:

Thanks. And since you're commenting on a previous post of mine, which had to do with Iboga, perhaps you'd like to try and refute what I wrote?

I did refute what you wrote. just what you wrote about iboga.

Posted by Lews on Mar-04-2015 00:23:

Never understood the conspiracy theories about (well, ANYthing, really, but, specifically) big pharma keeping cancer treatments down. That would involve so many people, it's ludicrous. Also, a cure to cancer would be so fucking lucrative it would shit all over the current cancer-treatment industry.

Also, can we keep the Iboga idiocy to a separate thread, please?

Oh, ok. I guess you're certain in your opinion, then. I hold a different opinion, however.
