Sad "She Makes Me Smile..."

This thread is asking for some advice from you all in hopes of getting a response I like, which I know is in this case an impossibility.

Anyway, my senior year in high school(I am now in my second year of college) I met a foriegn exchange student from Germany named Katarina. she's a blonde girl that blew the minds of every guy on the campus. Well, I guess I was lucky cus I got to take her out several times near the end of the year. I mean, we went to the ballet and shit that I would never do with another girl. This girl had me hooked. But as Robert Frost put it "Nothing Gold Can Stay." She had to move back to Germany at the end of the year and we lost touch. I thought I'd never see her again.

Well, I was eating lunch at Ruby Teusday's on Saturday and she walked in. You can imagine my suprise! (Somewhere between & ) Anyway, so I went down to say Hey and I found out that she's on vacation and is only in the states untill Friday. So I took her out that night. We went and drank coffee and listened to a live Jazz band (she loves Jazz.)All went well and we are going out almost every day this week.

This is where the title of the topic comes in. If any of you have seen the movie "Cruel Intentions" well, She is my blonde girl. I can't remember the name of Reese Witherspoon's character, but like he said in that movie "She Makes Me Smile." After taking girls home from bars and picking up random numbers for the last year and a half, she's different, and it's refreshing. "I'm tired of fucking these insipid (Manhattan) debutantes!" She's the only girl in years that the day after we went out I couldn't get her out of my head. That would be great and fine if she wern't leaving in 4 days.

Anyway, I guess I'll just let her go. I mean, I would love to just move to Germany this weekend and be with her, but that is not conceivable.

Like I said, I guess I'm hoping for advice that I will like, which I'm afraid, in this case, that doesn't exsist.

I don't know whether to see her untill she lives or to just not go out with her any longer in hopes of getting her out of my head.

Anyway, if you've wasted your time reading all that you might as well give a response, thanks.

I'm still having a really hard time trying to figure out what your problem is...

If you're just heartbroken cos she's leaving, then I'll just have to say:life goes on,man. We all find someone at the end,it just takes a shitload of time sometimes. And you know what they say:it's better to have loved and lost than never loved at all

If you want advice on where to go form here, however,I'd just let her go.You obviously have no chance to chase after her,so I guess you're just gonna have to face that you and her isn't going to happen. It'll be hard, but I'll just say it like they do in Riva - Time Is The Healer:

Time is the healer
Love is a stranger
Leave the hurt behind you
Break the chains that bind you

That's basically what you'll have to do,man

Sorry dude, nothing personal, but kinda shit advice. Call it what you want, but when Karma finally pays out (like this case) cash in. The internet exists for just such an occasion. Cheap flight abound. You just have to ask yourself if you want to take a chance, and give a long distance relationship a go, or do you want to piss a really good opportunity away.

I hear way, wayyyy too many guys (myself included) bemoaning the lack of great women out there. You find one don't let little obstacles get in the way (an obstacle is only as big as you allow it to be). Give it a go. Whats the worst that happens, you spend a few months having online sex and get a really great excuse to visit Germany?

Use yer balls man, its what they're for.

Good luck... seriously,
Fats

Sad I miss her too...

Been there, done that... all I can say is:

Be careful with cool European girls that don't live in your country

hehe, just kidding, but I know what you feel mate. This Russian girl was/is the most beautiful person in the world to me, in every possible way (inside + outside)... anyway, the story is too bloody long to tell right now
*has memories of the time they spent together*
Now she's gone and I just hear from her once/twice a year by mail

hmmm....i was seeing this girl that lives in Seattle but is moving back to Germany. so knowing it wont work out that way, there's no pressure to do much but hang out and enjoy

but if this girl has strong feelings about you and you have strong feelings for her..i dunno...dont let a good thing slip by.

I guess I'm just not that optimistic regarding long-distance relationships like that, and I don't think that there is a lack of good women out there, either. But hey,if you(Spyke) truly feel like she's the one, then by all means,go for it!

Thanks guys. It's not that I'm against long distance relationships. I mean, I've had relationships with girls across the country, but this is almost the exact opposite side of the world. And she won't be coming back to the US till summer 2004! So I dunno about this one. But the i-net is a good tool, and though I can't think of any "cheap" flights to Hamburg(sp?) maybe a vacation will be needed at some point...

Anyway, I'm going out with her tonight again, I guess as nothing will happen, it takes off the pressure, thus we can just have fun.

Damn European chicks, why can't there be American girls like this!? lol!

I so agree. At the moment there are some German exchange students at my school (I'm hosting one of them). Anyway, one of them is a girl who I met in Germany and we ended up liking each other in Germany but we both found out we liked each other like the day before I left. 7 months later she's here but I don't think there's really anything between us now. She has a boyfriend back in Germany but then again she had a boyfriend when I was there too. She's only here for 3 weeks though, I consider that not worth it. It's too heart-breaking to get together with someone and then they leave shortly after...plus I don't want to go messing up her realtionship. The prob is I want her so bad but then again we always want what we can't have...

When European girls are in Europe, they don't feel very special because they're among themselves. When they come to America, however, they suddenly realize what they're worth.

I have a great personal example of that. I met a girl who came to the US to study as an international student, from Ukraine. Now, Ukrainian girls are very beautiful, as some of you may know; but this one... oh, my God! When I say "beautiful," that's an understatement. I don't think you've seen a girl this beautiful (both face AND body) in your life. I am not kidding. When we were walking on the street, people would literally stop, their mouths would drop in admiration, everyone would compliment her on her looks. In NYC, people stared from the windows of buildings and coffee shops, amazed at her beautiful face, her blue eyes, her straight, high nose, her tight figure... In Atlantic City, there was traffic on the boardwalk. I am NOT kidding.

The moment she came here, she was offered a job as a model. Unfortunately, when she suddenly realized her worth in America, she became a bitch. She suddenly knew she could manipulate people, do whatever she wanted, because everyone would do his utmost just to get a word from her.

True story. I'm not dating her anymore... and I pity the guy who is. Tough job, having a European girlfriend in America.
