Jack Moss - Rapid Transit [Progressive Trance Oldies]

Bit of a functionalist mix, this one, but something some TAs will probably enjoy. I'm running a half-marathon in May and I wanted to make a mix specifically to help me get through. This is the result. It's about 5 minutes longer than I'll probably be running, but finishing on Tilt would have left me a bit short so I threw in the last track for good measure. I tried to keep the energy and momentum up, with the odd feel-good breakdown placed where I feel like I'll need a boost.

As you'll see it's all old stuff, mostly from the early '00s but ranging from 96-07, but that's just because I find this stuff the best music for running. There's some obvious classics in there but also some tracks you probably haven't heard before.

01. LunateX - Epic Invasion (Warehouse Mix) [E Wax]
02. Solar Fields - Brainbow [Ultimae]
03. Antix - Quiet Is The New Loud [Iboga]
04. Absolut & Blade - Outpost (Greed Remix) [Sprout]
05. Starecase - Not So Blue [Hope]
06. Natious - Power Crazed [Forward]
07. Black Dove - Capsule [Vapour]
08. Starecase - Navigator [Hope]
09. Max Graham - Backdraft [Hope]
10. Origin - Wide Eyed Angel (Oliver Lieb Remix) [Lost Language]
11. Medway - Release (Andy Moor Remix) [Hooj Choons]
12. Minilogue - Deep Motions (Greed Remix) [SOG]
13. Absolut & Blade - Pure Edge (Engelspost Remix) [Plastik Park]
14. Shiloh - Dream On (Luke Chable Remix) [Baroque]
15. Nikola Gala - Subterra [Intrinsic]
16. Chakra - I Am (Digweed & Muir's Bedrock Remix) [Jackpot]
17. Tilt - I Dream (Tilt's Resurrection Mix) [Hooj Choons]
18. Agnelli & Nelson - Everyday (John 00 Fleming Remix) [Xtravaganza]

checking it out. Glad you included that Wide Eyed Angel remix. One of my all time favorite Lieb pieces.

Oh fuck yes.

Classic starecase, uhh ohhh.

[Iboga]

Okay, but seriously I downloaded this the second Facebook told me you uploaded it. Looks fucking boss.

Haha, yes that amused me as well. It used to be such a quality label ten years ago.

I Am into I Dream....two of my favourite remixes of my two favourite tracks of this era.

Listening on Soundcloud...

Finally a mix with some proper good old prog trance.
Gonna have a listen.

Loving this...been alternating between this and Spike's 031 for most of the week.

The breakdown in I Dream still gives me chills to this day...awesome tune.

Anyone remember this album/series? Big crossover in style to this mix.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-11-2015 18:02:

Indeed, I still have that very album lying around in a box somewhere in my spare room. That was the first place I heard I Dream, actually.

Are you still mixing a sequel to Future Retro, Hamid? I've been waiting on tenterhooks for one of your new sets for years, now. YEAZ!

Thanks for the mix, System-J, and good luck for the run. If you ran without music, would your performance suffer?

Hey Jack, put my ears to this. Not familiar with any of the tracks except I Dream, as I only had access to more mainstream stuff back in the day. This has that classic trance sound, and it's really enjoyable. No criticism here, it was just really nice. Good stuff!

Also good luck on your half marathon! I'll be doing one of those in October and I'm trying to get my shins to stop hurting by then. I will probably make my own mix when I run that one, hopefully I have enough time between the wedding and race day to record one. Might just be a hodgepodge of tracks that keep my energy flowing.

Cheers mate. My performance would definitely suffer. In fact, I don't think I could run for two hours straight without music - I'd get too bored.

Cheers Nick. I know the feeling of battling against pain - I've had an on-off niggle with my left knee for a couple of years now and I'm really worried it'll put me out of action just before the race. It hasn't troubled me since November, so fingers crossed.

Yeah I know it's almost 5 years since the first one. I promise to release it in the near future. Just been so freakin busy with work and stuff.

lots of great tracks in here. I haven't listened to Shiloh in a while.

Posted by deegee on Mar-12-2015 17:54:

This is totally fitting my mood today. Thanks!

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-13-2015 13:43:

Thanks guys, glad you're enjoying it.

Posted by Mattsanity on Mar-24-2015 21:58:

holy shit I actually listened to it when it came out. a lot of tracks have that floaty, spacey atmosphere to it that was prevalent in the 2000's. nothing wrong with that but I also like the pulsating progressive trance tracks with the crazy peaks and valleys and this mix featured that as well.

Posted by DJ RANN on Mar-25-2015 00:17:

Can't wait to listen, and have quite a few of these on vinyl so really looking forward to hearing them as a mix. Cheers for uploading!

Thanks for bumping this because i didn't see it. Downloading now.

Not sure if i will be able to leave a feedback because: 1) not sure if anyone cares; 2) this new job is killing me.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Mar-26-2015 13:05:

I almost posted this mix in your "Is anything better than progressive trance?" thread, Matt.

I always care about feedback. When you don't have a dancefloor in front of you it's hard to judge whether you've got things right or messed up.

Fantastic set is fantastic; I've nothing more to say, except make some more like this (so many amazing tracks) and best of luck with the marathon! And come down to London for something, when you get a chance!
