Do you use Mid/Side EQ on bass heavy sounds at the mixing stage?

I have read alot of conflicting information about whether this technique is relevant at the mixing stage or mastering stage and even not at all.

Should I be using a low cut on the side channel for bass and kick sounds when I do my mixdown or even before that?

There is no "should". Stop reading what people write on the internet and trust your ears.

Ive a Live EQ8 in my main template, its sits on the Master channel in M/S mode - the Mid portion is disabled but the Side portion is turned on and its set to low pass at 150Hz, moderate Q, ill roll off more depending on what im using in the track

e.g. if im using a deep bass with a lot of chorus i might roll it off higher to help mono the low-end

I usually mono everything below 200hz on the master channel. On saying that my kick and sub are usually mono anyway on their channels so I doubt there's much need. Sometimes I might roll a tiny bit more from the mid bass using mid eq than I would from the sides just to clear the centre for the top end of the sub to come through but more often than not I don't bother. If I ever use mid/side eq its usually just to push higher frequencies out a bit more to the sides.
