Here's to you weekend warriors,
If you have ever been to Spain (I highly recommend the Northern Countries bordering France - Yes, I said countries.) You have probably been annoyed by the Siesta: an obligatory mid-day closing of all businesses. Yeah, nothing open from Noon til two PM.
Well, while I know a few hard working and Brilliant Spaniards, their work ethic is questionable and rather slow. America's pace is unique and can only be compared to very dense populations found in surrounding cities within Brazil, Australia, and China. For the most part, the Average American has become shorter, browner and dumber compared to the Titans: Armstrong, Washington, Revere and Steve Austin.
There is something about that blazing ambition that springs in abundance in the land of opportunity: The good ol' U.S.A. Whether this is the Starbucks Barista at the 24 hour Shop or the Silicon Valley programmer; ambition and a rather unique impulse to thrive are the makings of these at plain sight ordinary folks who are everything but ordinary.

I guess it's really nice for corporate big dogs when they can convince their underlings that working long hours is the necessary trial they must undergo to bring some hidden genius into bloom, not just a means of paying for their boss's second vacation home.
Whatever, though, continue jerking it to the Forbes 400.
I know you're gradually devolving in to complete lunacy but I'll bit nonetheless;
I've been to spain more than a dozen times and I could never get my head around the siesta thing. The argument for it was that it was too hot to work during those hours and culturally they preferred the shops to be open for a couple of hours later, but it really never made any sense.
Italy has the same climate, so does much of france and even hotter in S America and Africa but you don't see them needing a break for 2 hours in the afternoon.
A lot of the time, especially in quieter months, shops wouldn't bother opening again after siesta. Basically a way to slope off for a half day.
I've never understood it, and it certainly kick their arses during the recession.

You aren't ambitous. You are a slave to material and greed and fhe more value in money than people. It is your culture of ambition and work that is a recipe fore misery. the spaniards probsbly wonder what the fuck is wrong with a culture that wouldn't want to take a break amd live life.

China has 2 nap times a day, the employees are completely clueless and inefficient, and they don't do anything really well.
China throws numbers at problems; if the Chinese were efficient, they would already be ruling the roost.
