I give a quick tutorial to properly configure your computer to use the site music recognition - www.midomi.com.

This - FREE, the number of search tunes - UNLIMITED.

The most convenient way - not even use the microphone and speakers.

The most important - your sound card should have the option - STEREO MIX !!

Not all sound cards have an option "stereo mix". If you do not have, you will need to use speakers and a microphone.

If you don't have the stereo mix option (which comes with most if not all modern Realtek-based chips), you can also try a virtual audio cable. It's a lot more convenient and reliable than holding a mic up to your speakers. There are quite a few out there, but I recommend this one: http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm

That one does cost some money but if anyone knows of a free one that's just as reliable, I'm interested in knowing about it.
