Ryze ----> nest

From Moskito to ryze now nest? Anyone know what's going on ? Read the story on RA on my break just now

I'll let it slip out.

Lol, Jesus.

Although it's funny that it's being rebranded for the 2nd time in 2 years it's also really exciting that 2 of the main guys from BPM are on board - the bookings will be massive. Nice to see them utilizing both floors too. Word on the street is that this club will be going really late - like sonic/boa hours. This is LONG overdue in Toronto.

The name though....

Moskito was bad ryze was worse, nest = lol. Ryze had some good bookings as of late. The second room is the ground floor or what ? What's the so called attached restaurant if the second room is on the main floor

Beats Moskito or Ryze. Good place(s), but those were really the worst club names I've ever seen (at least among "good" clubs).

But better name or not, the changes sound promising!

22nd looking tasty indeed.

I know people love Hernan, but the last time I heard him at Footwork in 2013 he was boring. I have heard him belt it out at This Is London in like 08 or 07 though, I can't remember. He might be good now I suppose.

The bookings are standard Ryze fair, meaning that the venue has brought these guys in the past but I'm interested in how they use the rooms. Danny Tenaglia night should be good. I heard Sam Paganini in November and he played a good techno set with a journey and not just endless repetition.

Mannnnn he's not even techno bra ! Stacey Pullen should be dope too. But tin man ! Dat acid

The name sounds way better than ryze and mosquito. .. but straight goods it's full of children for the most part... I'd still Check it out if they bring talent I like... later hours is always good if possible... still don't think coda will be dethroned any time soon...
As a side note red is bringing popof in may... might hit that one up..

Happy to report that Nest is taking down that extremely annoying lighting rig lol. I also heard they are fixing up the entrance and making the downstairs bathrooms available to people upstairs during events.

Tickets are now on sale for Danny T which is confirmed to be another marathon set. I was pleasantly surprised to see prices are about half the cost of cover for his last marathon there in the summer. The cheaper cover should ram the club to the tits which could make the set even longer than last one (13-14 hours)

what makes coda at the top? imo based on bookings they haven't been the best since their opening. i won't lie i end up there more often than other clubs but seldom for shows I'm really excited for. first list of nest bookings asides from fair play who fuckin sucks, theres some nice names. hernan, matthew jonson ( IF YOU DONT LIKE MARIONETTE WTF ), danny t who has never disappointed me. plus tin man coming in. some quality bookings. i look at coda and its the same old typical bookings. although they just had ben klock, ryze had phase and rebekah. Jad's been booking some great DJ's, and the bookings at 120 have been dope too. i really liked red the one time i went but nothings ever brought me back.
tbh there really isn't a top club in toronto, they are all just in the middle ground. i don't think nest is going to be any better than ryze or moskito. those ring lights on top did suck ass, especially the spot light that went through the crowd. that made me nauseous.

i think toronto needs a big dark club focused on techno and the return of footwork, damn i miss that place

Question about Nest and Marathon sets -

How was the experience last time with tickets? If I show up at 4am, the last thing I want to be is waiting outside. I know capacity is an issue.

Call me crazy but I think the flyers are a good indication this may be something special. They are done in the same minimalist style as stereo and output flyers.

Here's a couple more from the opening weekend.

not missing danny t over electric island this time, possibly do both pending on how late i can last. last time i was napping on the guv speakers around 7 and ended up leaving at 730 lol. plus hernan the friday before detroit. god fucking damn.

side note ! finally a place that serves food so you don't have to call it a night due to hunger

That depends if the kitchen will be open in the wee hours...

well I guess it comes down to preference, coda brings in more djs that I am into myself...

a larger club that focusses on underground sounds would be great and i would go, but I don't think we could fill it consistently... the hernan power station needs to be converted into this space lol

I usually can tell I'm going to be hungry by midnight but always eat regardless. If it makes money they will keep it open. Time will tell I suppose

Coda DOES bring in the top DJs and they try to max out their profit by splitting these DJs over several nights instead of combining them on the same bill.

I guess they have promoters like Platform exclusive to them who have been bringing in the talent since Footwork days. Ppl associate Coda with quality as a result. But still fuck that place and the dictatorship they run...the door movements they pull makes it more "special" for ppl to get in but I'm not playing that game. I really hope Nest and Red Niteclub put the heat on them. They're clubs with 2 rooms and could do something bigger with multiple headliners in each room or something...

I don't think it's a bad idea for them to have certain items available like fries, onion rings, burgers etc. stuff that is easy to make.
