Omnisphere 2 / Furbies / Radioactive Stalactites

So, anyone manage to download it? I was able to get it setup right after launch and spent a few hours making some patches with furbies, radioactive stalactites and the likes.

I am really liking the new and improved FX modules, wavtables, granular, and unison functionality.

Innerspace is a great effect module that has alot of potential and the new "Precision Compressor" really hits the spot for punchy and present sounds. They improved the Analog Phaser as well as best I can tell it sounds much easier to fit into a mix.

Mood based browsing is literally the best thing ever. Havn't gotten around to making a song so I can try out soundmatch yet. I have been having so much fun making stupid furby patches I can't be arsed to make an actual song

I'm going to wait a few days before downloading it. I'm in the middle of finishing some other songs and can't be distracted by any shiny new objects right now.

Besides, after watching the inevitable chaos unfold over on KVR, I think I'll just avoid the fiasco for now and wait until Spectrasonics' servers have had a chance to cool off.

Called that a mile away, Spectrasonics should have known better than to say their servers could handle it though... and so should the people foolish enough to believe that

I think Spectrasonics thought that because they used a CDN for the data download they were in the clear... but they apparently failed to do adequate load testing on their payment and authorization systems...

To be honest with that perspective this has been a pretty solid launch so far.

It started good and went downhill quickly

I hear they are helping out people individually via email now, no success stories on KVR yet though.

haha I'm getting flashbacks to the 3+ weeks of constant downloading I had to go through to download Omnisphere the first time around.

I really don't know why they don't just piggyback off some huge servers somewhere for 1 month during a new release. KVR looks like a spectrasonics hate site right now lol

I bought it just like everyone on release day. Beyond the trouble I have managed to get my downloads in 2 days after purchase. Call me lucky.

I have no direct links with Spectrasonics. I don't know what's wrong with people. That hate isn't going to solve anything.

What I saw is Eric, his wife, Bob Wilson, Les, Michael working 24/7 to get as many issues as possible solved within a respectable timing.

This is what people seem to completely forget when they start such hate on the internet. The people they're dumping crap on are a small family business and don't make millions of dollars like a multinational. They employ many people, they're generous, and unfortunately they don't have the same power as a holding company, so, yes their servers are what they are and yes, they underestimated the demand. Who wouldn't with the state of economy, the state of music business after all?

If you knew that eric and his wife packaged their sample libraries on their own 20 years ago, that they did everything else the same way, that it cost them a lot of sleepless nights in order to deliver on time, just so they can make it and dig their own hole into a very harsh business controlled back then by a multinational such as roland or yamaha (that owns korg btw), then you would have a lot more respect for them. What I'm saying here is even regardless of the fact that eric persing's sounds designed and modeled modern dance music (the juno hoover, the pizzicato sounds from faithless, the oil can sfx in xfiles and countless progressive house records, shall I go on?)

In 25 years of music making, I've never seen someone as passionate and focused as the guys from spectrasonics. It is this family, small business thing, that makes their products so amazing. So yes it has its shortcomings. Meanwhile I haven't heard anyone pay respect for adding 600$ worth of classic sample libs on top of new sound sources, this for free, into omnisphere 2.

It is kinda sad how quickly people will spew hatred on the internet over trivial things.

If you think about what you get for the upgrade cost its more in total than what comes with most other synths nowdays for a similar price... All of the samples and a plethora of presets, the new FX, improved unison, granular, wavetables, new filters and FM options... and of course sample import to top it off!

So after working with Omni 2 for a week I have to say, I am extremely impressed with all the new features and patches I have used so far.

Really besides Diva, Omnisphere is the only "synth" I own that gets much use. I see this trend heavily accelerating with the great new sounding filters and "analog" labeled FX units...

It simply sounds great, making all kinds of different sounding patches and it handles them extremely well, more well rounded than Omni 1 which I feel had some weak spots.

The upgrade was worth every penny...

I can only imagine what freebies Eric is going to throw us over the upcoming years as Omni continues to grow!

Thanks for the mini review Nitride. Will def be giving this to myself as a BD present.

Hope he does a Trilian 2 as well, plenty of new analog monos out there now since last version!

ok just bought a 4k ultra display for better workflow + gaming and have 180 leftover. This is it.

Bitwig, Battery 4, and 8 Omnisphere 2 instances, few of my own patches and some of the factory ones.
