Read This! Educational Trance Reference Materials

I have to do one of those stupid frehman college research projects for my GE english class, where I just vomit out information on a certain topic. Anyhow, I chose the progression of Electronic Dance Music with an emphasis on the 'Trance' genre.

I am looking for books, magazine articles, internet references, ezines ect..ect.. that would help me with this topic.

Such things like the history behind it all, when it all started, how it evolved and such not.

Also. I would like to request infornation on topics that equate drugs to electronic music, ect..
---i.e. information on closed clubs, cancled parties, anti-rave bills, and other such legislature.

Any, help, pointers, links, would be very much appreciated.

Thank-you!

You might also want to have a look at the book:

Generation: Ecstasy

It focuses mainly on the raving aspect of dance music but it has lots on the origins of the sound.

It's also a very good read.

3 books

Last NIght, a dj saved my life....by bill brewster

-great about the history of music...and trance

next two books are NOT TRANCE but you kinda need to read them to understand how trance formed

Rough Guide To House Music
Rough Guide To Techno

they both have bios or artists.....both small books.....lots of info and you learn how trance evolved and really who spearheaded it.

damn I can't believe you just wrote this thread as I was about to do the same I have to write an essay on a subject of my choice for my IT course. So I've decided to do an essay on "The History of Electronica". I've got to use 4 applications to demonstrate my essay to the class in two weeks time. So I'm gonna try and make a good powerpoint display with some sound clips for my main part As were both doing the same thing if you want any advice feel free to PM me
