Posted by DJ RANN on Jul-17-2015 19:34:

Still not right.

IH-RAHN (no pause though).

We invented the language so I'm right. Just listen to the BBC

Mainstream British English pronunciation has changed more since the origins of Modern English than American English has. You guys are the mutants who keep changing things, steadily erasing non-prevocalic "R" from the spoken language, for example. We here in the States (and Canada) are the ones keeping it real.

Posted by DJ RANN on Jul-17-2015 20:06:

...but American English is so far from the root/base of the language that it's like you're comparing apples to battleships.

I love that they show subtitles on American TV when anyone speaks English with anything other than a London accent

Anyway, I sound like Jude law when I speak so it doesn't apply to me

Posted by djshire on Jul-17-2015 21:11:

I'm not voting, no option for "so far away"

Posted by Sushipunk on Jul-17-2015 21:14:

I voted number one, but it's more like Eye-Rahn than Eye-Ran.

Bunch of cretins! I bet you all scrape your teeth on your utensils when you eat, too! Except for Del, because he's perfect.

If we're really going to say it the Farsi way, it should be spelled "Eedan," since that is the closest English orthographic approximation to that pronunciation (unless maybe you are Scottish).

Ih - Rahn = EEE - RON

No?

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jul-18-2015 20:26:

No. The "I" is like the "I" in "India". You don't say Eee-ndia unless you are a Doctor Evil.

Added!
