Nice. I almost bought one for my Mopho X4 a few months back, but decided to replace the synth instead.

What synth did you replaced the MOpho with? Just wondering.

You can't go wrong with a Jazz, then. I've had the itch to buy an American V for a few years now and it's probably just a matter of time before I do. That said, I've still got my trusty G&L (Leo Fender's company after he sold Fender to CBS) L-2000 that I've owned for 20+ years. It's very nice to play with a naturally smooth tone, and a very round bottom end. It's a very heavy bass, though, which I prefer. But, G&L also makes a lighter and cheaper "Tribute" version of the bass, which is actually a really good deal. The electronics give you a very wide range of tones and makes it great for recording, too, which is why I've kept it so long. It's been my main bass for two decades and was pretty much the only one I brought along to studios back when I was doing session work, just because of its versatility.

I'll focus on making music instead.

I know, right

One came along at a decent price and I couldn't say no.

Oddly, I was just about to pull the trigger on a Virus C!

Thanks, looks like a fine bass. I definitely want one that will last me and is versatile enough so it looks like a solid option.

That said, just had a $2500 car repair bill so I guess my plans are dashed for now... maybe if I get a nice bonus this year

Yeah, the G&Ls are essentially high end Fenders based on Leo's legacy (pre-CBS) instruments. But, they're on the more expensive side and not always to everybody's liking, sometimes because of the weight. Almost everybody who picks my L2000 up for the first time has the same "holy crap, that's heavy" reaction.

Anyway, you really can't go wrong with a standard Fender Jazz - hell, even the cheaper MIM versions are nice basses and will get the job done for most people. You can usually find them dirt cheap on craigslist from people who bought one at Guitar Center to learn bass, played it twice, and decided that PlayStation was more up their alley.

Very nice. I used the prism sounds extensively at a couple of studios in London and fuck, are they clean. we were getting round trip latencies of under 4ms which is pretty incredible considering they are class compliant devices.

Is that the Lyra II?

One thing though - I'll never understand why people with great monitors buy subs for stereo mixing It's an engineers nightmare.

Hi.

Yes its lyra 2.

And the sub is for listening during the day.. when I make music it is usually in the evening so I can't use the sub anyways.. because everyone is sleeping. Got a baby in the house and 2 other small kids.. I just got the sub to have some fun during the day

So damn refreshing to hear that answer (and it's the only right one).

Truedat. They have some really great sounds that are somewhat intrinsic to the DNA of dance music.

It is quite a tasty beast for sure.

Dark and juicy, a little bit like the Supernova I had, but even silkier.

It'll go really well with the Virus C that just turned up.
