If our YouTube comments were the first thing that aliens received from us, I have a feeling that they would either speed away in the opposite direction or want to examine humanity as a curious pathological case.

Not at all, I consider some of these reports plausible. They were, after all, given by various army officials, who I doubt were simply taking the piss.

Doesn't pass the smell test. We are nowhere near serious interstellar travel and any civilization that were would already have cracked nuclear fission and fusion hundreds or even thousands of years ago, imo.

I don't believe in aliens like the ones depicted in movies. According to my creed, they may be "spiritual" beings aiding us - like possibly shutting down nuclear weapons facilities, as some of the reports have shown. Regarding advanced civilizations on another planets, in other galaxies, etc. - not sure about that, although, who knows?

Olaf Stapleton's Last and First Men was a great book, btw, but I don't really entertain the existence of such realities.

In all seriousness, even if AlphaStarred is the very last person who should be casting stones of aspersion at weapon grade cretins, Youtube comments are the fucking end of civilisation. Any time I look up some football highlights the comments below are a roll call in the very worst forms of bigotry, hatred and illiterate stupidity, usually prompted by some kid in Africa and some other kid in South East Asia arguing whether Frank Lampard is better than Steven Gerrard.

See, that's the difference between you and me. You think I'm somehow trying to slander or belittle these people, whereas I simply find the quotes funny and entertaining - the reason why I started this thread. These people are not necessarily better or worse than you and me - that wasn't the intention.

The only reason anyone should ever read YouTube comments is if you want to commit a very, very slow suicide.

The videos for less popular things are often not so bad because they are sought out deliberately by people interested in their content. But your faith in humanity will definitely fall down a few notches if you read the comments for anything with a high number of views. Much less something that made it to the front page recommendations, lol.

Guys, I think SYSTEM-J is writing a long-winded, eloquent as-can-be reply to my post above. Let's see what he writes this time...
