Question How do u run programs from source code?

I'm amatuer at this so, I have a question:

If I download the source code from a program, how do I get from there to the actual program running (or at least the EXE file)? Can anyone give me any instructions? Thanks!

What compiler you use depends on the language the code is in.
Do you have visual studio?
If yes, chances are you already have a compiler that might do the job.

You really need to supply a lot more info for us to help you: which language is the program written in, for which platform (i686, PowerPc, JavaVM), which OS (Windows, Linux, BeOS, Amiga, MacOS), which third party libraries are needed (should be stated somewhere in the distribution - should) etc.
However, I would say that unless there's a readme file along with the source code telling you how to compile/run it, you will probably have a hard time getting anywhere.
