Reason RPS to RNS conversion

I read that it was possible to convert RPS to RNS and I wonder if some of you know more about it. I read on german forum that there was a tool for this and also a controversial discussion on reasonstation.net ( couldn't find anything there ... )

Anyone who knows more about this topic ?

if that is possible im gonna jur..ermm well, it would be really cool, cos i often hear nice synths in those .rps file which i want to change a bit and then use in my own tracks

but i dont know about a tool to do it...

john

//edit thnx a lot for the file you sent me, sounds really good!!

Hmm.. I don't really like the idea of this. I mean if someone posted their file as an RPS then I'd have to believe that they didn't want someone else using their synths, etc.. Anyways, making your own stuff is more fun and rewarding in the end, but that's just my opinion.

might wanna check on chicken systems web page they were in the works of puttin reason support in their sample converter prog.

yes, I thought this too for a long time. Meanwhile I can't find sounds in rps files which would be worth to steal them for my own productions...because I can make the sounds I like in most of the cases...

I also agree that creating your own sounds makes more fun, but I also understand that people who want just to use some professional patches.

What do others think about it ( someone got a link for a discussion similar to this one ? )

What's the point in having a RPS file in the first place if someone wants to crack it?

Get your own patches, damnit.

U know what I'm Fuckin Sick of this !

Anyone who uses reasonstation will know the shit caused by this RPS2RNS converter, why cant you stealing bastards get your own shit instead of ripping off people that spend ages programming patches or lots of money on sample CD's only for some lamer to come and rip it off !

As Mystery sed
GET YOUR OWN PATCHES, DAMNIT !!!

Posted by John on Oct-30-2002 20:39:

damn, ppl get mad here. relax bren
it is indeed not fair to crack an rps, else (s)he would have made it .rns.
and it does give more satisfaction if you have done everything on your own...
but whats wrong with using someone else's sounds? i mean, i make music for fun, most of what i make doesnt even get outside my room (well, my naburs are complaining sometimes..) so i want to use YOUR sounds heheh no j/k

well...lets get back to some patch-programming

indeed...and I think that some people will get some really cool patches when the TA Refill ( or however we will call it ) is finished.

To be honest if you didnt want your patches copied you should of let people listen to it in mp3 or audio format, not rps. If you really want a patch from an rps file you can just look at how its programed and copy it. It aint hard.

First of all,

Sorry for shouting I know first hand what it's like to get stuff ripped off so I get a bit emotional about these things

I agree with U in one sense, but I stared on softsynths and leanred a lot of the techniques I use to day by anilizing other peoples tracks to see how they make certain sounds. By not releasing the RPS you are denying people a possible learning experience
However there is a difference between learning and stealing which some people need to lean about.

Everything from reason2.0 works in 1.0 as well, except for the malstrom patches but substractor and nn19 are the same.. (correct me if im wrong..)

You once had an awesome Rank 1 Synth in your track midwinter 2002 using lots of eqs and FX. It would be great if you could make something compareable to this one as an rns arrangement

This refills gonna be awesome, who wants it to be public and who wants it private?

Id like the best patches to be kept for the people that have contributed, or maybe even the refill to be kept tottally for those who have contributed. Iv e-mailed trancevision, hes not sure and says its up to you lot(the contrubters).

Posted by John on Nov-01-2002 17:40:

i dont have a problem with the refill being public.. once a few ppl have it..it will probably go from harddrive to harddrive. there is not much we can do about that.
but its nice to have something that others dont have (something like the release groups though hehehe), so maybe we can keep it for contributors or ta's only? its all oke with me..
i can even host the refill for a while if it doesnt get above 150mb
