a matter that has annoyed me
right, im sorry, i know this is in the wrong section but i wanted more people to aknowledge this, i just read and replied to a thread that has just been deleted, not because of me ( i dont think), but it was regarding, where to download livesets from, the guy was new to the board, and he recived about 15-20 replies of abuse, purely because he didnt know where to download live sets from, also because he didnt know what DC hub was, which to be fair, if i was new here, i wouldnt know what it was.
in my reply i said that i think its stupid, some of the people on here are so self righteous, gleeming in the fact that they have more knowledge than others, and they'd sooner try and make themselves look better by flaming the newbies, rather than give them the help they need.... as we all did at some point.
PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THIS THREAD, i would like people to know that sumtimes their attitudes stink.
flaming summone is bad enough when it is provoked, but it is childish when it happens to the guy who started an innocent thread..
take heed TA's, we shud be a community of people who love trance music, not a community of people who try to put others down to show off our own supremecy.
thanks, peace
btw... sorry i didnt see davinox's thread in chillout room
Sadly, this is a very legitimate gripe. There's not much to be done about it though. My guess is that these people get some sort of perverse pleasure from putting other people down just because they're new and ignorant, and frankly that's pretty sad.
*Agree*
LateR.
Ur 100% right mate
People who got "New stuff" are often not kind to other people and flame the newbie who ask for stuff ....but what can you do...its all over the net, people that are very old in the fourm act very hard on the newbies...I know its not everyone ,but most of them.
also, a-aplz, you should be ashamed of yourself for what you sed to that guy, i cant remember what you sed, but it was a sumthing alongs the lines of
........ "..........instead of opening lame threads like this, use the search button, you are a lamer, good bye"
grow up, he didnt know any better, he is new.
I'm so ashamed of myeself now.

A very childish reply I must say
Tho I don't want to take place in this fight
Well it's only music , FORGET the fight MUSIC is NOW

I agree.
I'm one of the many people that don't like such replies and I hope this thread opens eyes of some people here.
I think whats most anoying about these type of threads *referring to the "Where to download?!?" threads* is a) the sheer # of them and b) the fact that some n00bs come here soley for the purpose of asking where to get free music. They dont come in here to contribute or discuss music which is what this forum is supposed to be all about. I still think there needs to be some sticky threads for popular topics that get posted each day on this forum (ie: "where to download music", "wutcha listening to", "favorite tunes of alltime", etc.). I don't mind helping out newbies but when you get so many posts every week that ask the same questions is can become tiresome and this is why some of the TA veterans can come across as snobbish. Ya I notice a few childish posts on here but what forum doesn't have those?
I think 2 things would help solve this issue. 1) n00bs should have to read some type of disclaimer or set of rules before joining the forum. Within these set of rules should be stuff that address' this sort of "problem" and what to do to avoid them. Forum Edicate 101.
2) Some of the TA veterans need to get off the power trips they get when posting about new releases or bragging about stuff they have that others do not have access too. Its cool to say how much you love something but do so in a manner that keeps you from sounding like an ass. Also remember you had to start somewhere so try to be a bit more helpful to the n00bs.
That is all. Peace and love to all.
Yeah 100% right there nukleuz
it seems some members get above themselves, we are all equal here. People with ego's dont normally last long.
You will find the people who know most about trance are the quiet ones. And the people who know a small amount about trance use that amount as much as possible to put others down, or try and "big themselves up"
Although wot can i say, 6000 posts, hehe
Totally agree with Cyberwoo.
Also partially with Nukleuz too but it gets REALLY hard to read all the same crap 50 times a day every day...
why not follow the golden rule of if u dont like the thread dont reply...if no one replies it will go away..if u have nothing nice to say then say nothing...that will be great should be a golden rule for the forums
yep cyberwoo... good point, i totally agree.
i mean, the flaming is not as bad if it is a discussion about sumthing, the thing im pointing out in this thread, is with regards to noobs, so this would be a great idea.
There's nothing wrong with making fun of people asking these kind of questions, but flaming is just too easy...

I think people need to just chill the fuck out. Take a chill pill or something.
If you would suggest they use the search button say it to them in a nice manner. Which is a good idea because yes it can get annoying seeing the same posts that go "Oh where Oh where can I get livesets from" over and over.

I was the one they opened up on. As many of you realized, I am knew here. Have been listening to this type of music since about early 99 or so. Im not new to internet forums though, so I wasnt really offended by it. Glad some people are cool here and actually came to bat for me, pretty nice.
I dont mind being knocked though. I mean, you really do become that much more of a better person by ripping on a person who is totally clueless.
Thanks to those who got a clue

I've also noticed that TA is not newbie-friendly and it is a little elitist. I must admit, its quite a paradox. People ask for suggestions to convert their friends to trance, yet when new members come they get flamed. I bet if Starfox posted a 'favorite track' thread then he'd get 50 replies, but if someone new did that they'd get 25 flames.
make peace not war
and let the people have the music
people people
just to recap what some people said already. If you dont like the thread dont read it simple as that. Unless you are a masochist and like to put yourself willingly through this so called torture. Everyone begins somewhere i am sure you guys where there too as well as me. I started with cheese but i had this feeling. This feeling that there was something else out there to fill this void. And i found it. Long live TRANCE
