that "DJ look"

Im seen quite a few DJs in my day and this is what Ive noticed from my fav DJs. Your opionions may be diff, but this is what I witnessed.

Tiesto: Sometimes he looks like he's on something, but he's super funny to watch cuz he over exagerates whatever hes doing . . . like he'll throw his whole body forward when he turns the bass knob up. Way COOL. Very flirtateous with the ladies and from what i heard, hes a sarcastic guy, but in a good way. Seems like a cool guy to drink with.

PVD: very calm most of the time, has the "get the job done" look but he does have his moments of sillyness.

Bad Boy Bill: Looks like he's gonna fight someone and seems very arrogant throughout his set. Really dont like this guy but he has skill like nobodys business.

Ferry: lots of interaction with the crowd and somewhat cheezy but hes cool.

ATB: I saw him for like 10 mins and left. He seems to overexaggerate the hype in his songs. I remember he dropped The Summer , and he was head banging like it was a hard tune and I hate it when he goes, "One ... Two . . .Three. . . .Four.. . .a One Two Three FOUR!" It cheezes me the heck out.

DJ Keoki: Very odd, and hes super short.

Mauro: Looks like he Ownz the place hes playing at. Very serious at times and makes subtle body movement. I saw him smile one time and it was a very cheezy smirk which sorta creeped me out.

What do you think?

Oakenfold: Just like Mauro, he looks like he ownz the place and you really get the feeling he knows what hes doing. Looks like he doesnt fack around and has this superstar type vibe.

Judge Jules: Just seen vids and pics of him and he looks like hes on crack. Hes just all over the place and kinda funny to laugh at.

Sasha: very COOOL and calm. I like his vibe a lot.

ive only seen tiesto live and yes maybe he's exaggerating, but i can understand the way he moves, i couldnt stand still either when i was the dj playing that kind of music... the music just moves you.. and he's nice. talked to him couple of times and he just started dancing on the dancefloor after his set.

yup Jules likes his coke so thats why he looks like that

i agree with u on all of em specially oakie...but i saw mauro a few weeks ago and he interacted with the crowd nicely and was smiling alot..and just saw marco v and he was smiling the whole set "probably cause of the hot gogo dancers"

Danny Howells: Great interaction with the people.
Making gestures etc... really a crowd guy !
Full of energy!

Junkie XL: always making the same moves with his body, forward backward, just like in his clip from a little less conversation.
Very concentrated on his job.

LOL what u said about picotto is true, he really thinks he ownz the place

Gary D is great fun to watch!
So is Cosmic Gate, because of the way they divide 'tasks'
Blank&Jones are always smiling, especially at Mayday

giotto looks very serious also when spinning!
tenaglia looks mental when he plays in ibiza! saw some vids and he just looks like hes loving every minute of it! thats wht a DJ is all about IMO

Joy Kitikonti - Very funny guy to watch. Often has a crazy grin on his face Making weird moves with his body and arms during breakdowns

my list of djs who i've seen is below ten but from all of them i can say that i loved marco v the most. he's so awesome to watch. he is so completely into the music and he sort of moves back and forth to the beat without stopping...he seems comletely engrossed in the music, rather than trying to get the audience to treat him like a god. he has wicked skills but doesn't flaunt it like everyone else.

i saw both of them spin @ the same party, and oakenfold to me, seems like an arrogant bastard who just plays off his name.
the Guy didnt even touch his tables half the time... some other little sidekick who i have no idea what his name was spun half the time. T'was weak.

Sasha cool and calm....fits his music =)


now, BT i saw him to a live PA type thing on halloween a few years back... BEST show i have EVER been to. he was ALL over the place, totally crazy, jumping like a freak... pointing to the sky... seeemed like he Really loved the music he was making for the crowd -- and now that i think of it, then crowd was really really small!

Anyone else ever seen BT live ? (not DJing)

well i saw him djing in april...actually his essential mix was being recorded..but u r right what a crazy guy...really pumped its like he is at a football game or something.

ohh so true so true....haven't seen em live yet but from all the videos with them I've seen they are always smiling

although I think that Piet's mouth is built so it look's like he's smiling...noticed that when I saw the interview he does on the trance energy DVD

tiesto seems to smile a lot. i like it

Armin: constantly smiles and likes to jump on the spot, also lots of crowd interaction
j00f: when the track builds up he goes extremely mental that you can see his veins popping out of his red face and neck.. great DJ to watch

my fav. is still mauro
he really does OWN the place!

I have a couple of vid's and armin seems to always be smiling which is good
But the dj that seems to scare me alot would have to be john gielen one minute he would be ok then he would just pull the gayest faces like he is radged or something i don't get it!!!

gielen is just pure crazy up there...one second all he does is some noding and waving with his arm and next second it looks like he's gonna throw his arm away to the public and he screams and stuff.....

but i like his style, he look's to be so much into the music

Sander Kleinenberg is either smoking, smiling and deejaying or smoking, smiling and drinking

DJ Tiesto is always smiling

Steve Lawler tends to smile alot when he is playing

John Digweed rarely smiles when he deejays

Anyway,here's my contribution to the various looks of the djs I've seen:

DJ Stigma: One of the most concentrated djs I've seen.He's totally in his own world,CONSTANTLY doing something,tweaking the mixer,slowing or speeding up records,digging in his bag,or just stands with both hands on the TT's like some idol,checking the sounds.The result?Flawless mixingNot much crowd interaction,tho.

PvD:Most of the time he's really concentrated,but every once in a while he puts his head up with a large grin on his face.And sometimes he just acts like a clown,making all sorts of weird movements.(Like when he dropped Time To Die (Seraque Mix) in Berlin 3 weeks ago,his bobbed back and forth like a jack-in-a-box that has just popped out.And when he dropped Wavy Gravy,he made all sorts of wavy things with his arms when the synth came in.Looks a bit silly,but I like it)

Tom Harding:Part of his popularity is cos of his immense interaction with the crowd.Always jumping around like a madman,punching the air and hyping the people to make them push harder.Except when he mixes of course.Then he creates some kind of vacuum around the TTs and himself

hahah Gielen. Sometimes he just goes over the top. i.e. throwing his headphones into the crowd, playing the notes in the song on an invisible vertical keyboard...

Another thing that I've noticed Ferry does (which I do a lot too!!!) is tap the top of the mixer to the bassline during transitions.
