it sounds really nice.. can't think of anything to change except maybe for what you said yourself... hmmm.. and maybe just some delay on the piano melodie, but that's just me

Posted by Icone on Oct-28-2002 17:14:

ok thx mate, i'll see what i can do

anyone else wanna have a listen?

Posted by mantisnl on Oct-28-2002 17:26:

i really like the beginning of the song.. sounds nice and pretty hard!
but the main synth.. i think its a bit 2 weak.. dunno why but apart from that it sounds great, as usual

grtz,

mantiz

greetz,
Wim

Hey Lightworks!

I haven't replied very often in one of your threads, so I'm gonna do it more often, cuz everyone needs it

I think I know what mantisnl means. When I'm listening with my headphones, very much of the song sounds like it's on the background. Even the percussion in the beginning, it's on the background. Try to use less stereoseperation (do I spell this right?) or something like that and bring it more to the front.
After all, I've nothing more to "complain" (hehe ) about this song. Nice melody, nice buildup, nice break, so I guess this is the only thing you need to change..

Cheers,

Blue Arctic Stars

thx regrooved

some other people have asked me to try to add more stereo effects on my drums... but then again some people won't like that hehe

take care,
Wim

great job man! im working on a tune too.. ill email you it! I defintely loved this though!

Talk to you later,

the build-up is probably the best one i've ever heard from you! the main melody rocks as well, but the break is rather annoying, especially the piano. the melody is good, but i'd change it with another sound. and i'd add something in the background of the main part as well, perhaps a little sub-melody, it will sound fuller that way. i think with some changes, this track could well turn out to be your best track so far and a club hit in europe!

Posted by Icone on Oct-29-2002 15:09:

hey thx kevin

I'm working on some more elements for the break and some more layer melodies when the main lead is playing (in this demo there were two, but one was too quiet I think).
You mean I should replace the buildup synth with another one or the main synth? or was it the melody that the piano played?

Cheers,
Wim

i was talking about the piano. the melody is good, but i think a piano sounds a bit plain in that part, i'd use a synth instead.

anyway, just my opinion...

Posted by Icone on Oct-30-2002 10:00:

that's ok kev, i was thinking of replacing it as well... in fact i've already did this, someone else pointed out that it didn't fit the track's atmosphere.

cheers
Wim

nice to see a track from you again wim!
and i love this one! melody is great and the kick is banging
the main synth could use some more power as mantis said, but i read you are already fixing it (but i can live with this synth as it is now as well)
personally i dont have a problem with the piano, i always like pianobreaks
well, good work wim, i want to hear this played out loud for 20.000 ppl on a party!
keep it up!

john

Posted by Icone on Oct-30-2002 18:19:

hey thx john, i'm glad you like it

i spent quite some time finding that yet, simple sounding melody. but at this time, i'm making the track a bit deeper, but not less powerful. i've lowered the buildup synth with one octave and it sounds way more fuller now. the main synth has a deeper edge to it as well. i'll up this version as soon as i can

take care,
Wim

dl-ing now, will listen and reply this evening.
Glad you have another direct link. I'm getting pissed of all that mp3.com bull
doe dat maar vaker

Posted by Icone on Oct-30-2002 20:11:

hey Trancerke, i'd love to host all my tracks, but i only have 50MB of own webspace, so it'll be darn hard... so i'm afraid mp3.com will stay for now
I'm busy upping pretty much all of my tracks to iuma.com (http://lightworks.iuma.com), so those are all direct download links (no registration required).

cheers,
Wim

I like the build-up. Mayb a little too much reverb on the open hi-hat but this is very subjective. I like the lead synth patch and i would definately not have the patience to get stuff like that out of software . Melody line is simple but effective but maybe you should add some notes at the end because at the end it get's a little boring (really, with 2-3 additional notes you can make it sound totally new) Good work mate

Posted by Icone on Oct-31-2002 08:24:

thx mate
i wanted to make the main lead simple but effective, and not just vague because of too many notes playing. did you have a listen at the improved version? i tweaked some things a little bit.

cheers,
Wim

it has definitely improved. as i said before, this tune can easily rock the dancefloor. with some extra fills and fx here and there, this can be worth sending to a major label IMO. love it!

Posted by gareth on Nov-06-2002 06:36:

nice track again ) i like those sounds u used right at the beginning of the track.. . kinda like the type of sound that tiesto uses in lethal industry or something like same sort of way..
keke

what did u use to make the bassline? i always hear u use this sort of bassline style i really like it~

Posted by Icone on Nov-07-2002 11:12:

thx gareth

the basslines are pretty much all 'simple' 3xOSC's but if you tweak them enough you can pretty much do anything with them as a bassline
the first one you hear (the quiet one) isn't a 3xOSC though, that's a pro-52... but with stereo fx and reverb.
And don't forget the EQ'ing of course

regards,
Wim
