OrgaNik - Nonsynaptic Plasticity [Ambient/Melodic/Techno/Something]
So apparently the kids these days call it "melodic techno". I don't know if that's what this is, but all of these tracks were found in the techno and ambient sections of Beatport.
The concept of this mix was to jump in blindly and pick tracks that interested me. I have no idea about almost any of these artists, nor do I know if these tracks are popular or not. I also decided to give the mix a lovely pretentious title, as you do.
01. Alexei Scutari - Come To Me (Nikolay Mikryukov Remix) [Spring Tube]
02. Jemir Blanco - Counterglow (Van Morph Remix) [Complex Textures]
03. Roger Martinez - A Moment Of Stillness In Flight [Visceral]
04. Deepchord & Pulshar - Undercover (Version 1) [AvantRoots]
05. Morfine - Bibou [Goldmin Music]
06. Michael Yasyrev - Disappearing [Guava]
07. Darkskye - Eidetica (Simeon Jackson Remix) [Smart Phenomena Records]
08. Simeon Jackson - Aftermath [Smart Phenomena Records]
09. NeoTraffic - Exospher [ADRO Records]
10. Ethylen - Pierdut [Skills Records]
11. Vadim Antonov - Happiness Is Near [Stazis]
12. Von - Ghyveret [AMAdea Records]
13. The Zero - Inferno [Emotional Noise]
14. T.Raumschmiere - Abfahrt [Albumlabel]
I saw this and stuck it on as a whim while I was cooking. In all honesty, I would have spent more time digging if I were you - most of these tracks are inoffensive, but fall into the kind of blandly pretty territory these kind of web labels churn out. And that Inferno track at the end was a big mistake. There were a couple of highlights - the Deepchord/Pulshar track, naturally, and the track by Von was very nice.
Can't fault the technical side of things though, it was mixed and sequenced perfectly well.

The problem with digital music shopping, especially with the method you chose of diving in at random, is that you skip through hundreds and hundreds of dog shit tracks, and when you do come across something half-decent it sounds amazing by contrast. It's easy to buy mediocre tracks as a result, and this is why I've got dozens of MP3s on my hard-drive that I will never play again.
To use that track Inferno as an example - I get why you played it where you did. It's supposed to be the most energetic track to peak the set at the end. But the transition from the previous track feels forced with the switch to an unrelated key. If you'd been digging for longer you'd have 4-5 tunes you could choose to play in that moment, and you'd be able to pick a better one.
So yeah. A decent warm-up, but I reckon you can make a way better mix than this once you've got a roster of reliable artists/labels in your arsenal.
I don't delve into this kind of genre but this was a unique mix.
Unique in a good way, I hope.
that track from 55-59 min reminds me of old Timo Maas. it's really kickin'.
