Best Dj Equipment make

OK nice a simple question here
I am eventualy getting some decks but im not so sure on which make i should go for. I am only expecting to be paying around �300 for 2 direct drive turntables and a sample mixer, basicly just a beginner pack that would last me a few years without them breaking
So what do you think would be best for me???

Also where would i be able to buy these from???

get the industry standard Technics SL 1200's. only problem..they can get expensive

technics is the way to go. invest the extra cash, you won't be disappointed. and the resale value is strong.

Hmmm, it will be hard for DJ_Lukeass to invest extra cash when all he has is 300 pounds, and Technics are 300 EACH! Try to be helpful!

Anyway, if u just want some decks and a mixer, and u aren't particularly concerned about their condition, you could try the Loot paper, as they always ahve loadsa bargains in there.

If u want new decks tho, try one of those Numark packages. My friend had some Numark TT-1512's (or something) and some crappy Numark mixer for 250, and it served the job well. At first i found them easier to use than 1210's as the platter was easier to push to beat match, yet still maintained a constant speed. Technics are a little bit more harder i reckon.

Or u could look at htfr.com and see what sorta packages they have to offer.

Yeah i was looking at some NuMark packages but the best for me are �365 and there off http://www.sapphires.co.uk in the packages section they look pretty good

But i am not buying them my self my parents are buying them and are quite bothered about money lol and they reckon i should look for second hand ones

all i'm saying is that some friends bought the cheapo's and now, amongst buying vinyl and other stuff are also saving for the technics, as if the other tables were only a stop gap solution. go for the good stuff straight off, a cheaper mixer is ok to start with, but i'd just keep on saving for the SL1200's.

the extra cash is def worth it. most clubs use 1200, so that the main reason why they are better to get. and once you have played on technics there is no turning back... you will be able to sell for almost what you bought them for

Is this an x-mas present or something? What you should do is figure out a way to combine some occasions or something.. ie.. if this is an x-mas gift tell them to wait till your birthday.. save the money and get them to increase the amount of cash they spend.. either that or ask to borrow the extra cash and pay them back or find a pair of used 1200s. I have seen 12yr old 1200s that play just as well as new ones.

Why you ask?

If you buy some cheap decks and you start to get good you are eventually going to want to get 1200's because anywhere you go out and spin you will be spinning on 1200s. Problem is that you will be so use to your decks that you wont be able to spin as well on 1200s. There is a huge difference between 1200s and every other deck on the market. So then you decide to sell your old decks and you wont get anything for them.. cheap decks are like a car.. as soon as you open the box they loose half their value. So you will be trying to sell your old decks, buy new ones, and buy vinyl all at the sametime. You will have to save a good chunk of money and you will prob have to cut back on vinyl for a bit trying to save money to buy your 1200s.

If you do anything.. buy 1200s and buy a cheap mixer.. a mixer is much easier to replace the buying new decks.. you only need one mixer.

I know what you are thinking.. you want to spin now.. but trust me.. I bought cheap decks in the beginning and regretted after month 3 and I know several djs who did the sametime.

just trying to save you some hassle

I have a pair of PT-2400's myself, and I am very happy with them ! Don't know if you can get a pair under 300, but if you can, don't think twice !

I didn't go through reading all the post here but well just want to say a friend of mine had the exact same problem and he got Gemini or some other decks to mix with. For months he has been practising and he couldn't mix because of crappy equipments and now he has sold them and quit djing as a whole. I don't know if you get my point!? I'd suggest if you haven't got the csh for Technics now then steal them... or wait till you get enough money. You'll be happy with staying with them rather than having to put up with some craps and waiting till you 'upgrade' coz in the end you'll be spending more.

i bought two Technics ..

two friends of me bought firstly two suxx0r turntables, both sold them between 3-6 months

my advice, get technics
it costs alot of money, but u can b sure u didnt make a mistake!
