making cash...

i have been spinnin on numark tt-100s, and a numark dm-3001x for about 6 months. i am really confident in my mixing skills.

i really want to buy technics, but im only.... 13 years old. i got no income so far.

i have the skills that i could get a job in a bar as the warmup dj, but i dont think they will hire me, seeing that im 13.

there is even a pretty big bar/dance club, literally, around the corner from my house, and there is a kid younger than me workin as a busboy, so if i give em a good tape, then they may hire me...

i really think i am "ready" for technics, but i need cash to buy em.

any ideas that could help me make money?

if youre in the suburbs i would mow lawns...especially if youre fairly neat and there are alot of rich people with big yards... i used to make 25 dollars an acre mowing 7 acres every other week or so...it would take me about 3-4 hours since they were empty lots...and i had a riding lawnmower. i dont know how you would drive to these places but perhaps start in your neighborhood?

my roomate suggests delivering newspapers...

With everything said above and addition maybe wash cars. Charge like five to ten dollars per car. Have a sign up at a parking lot (with permission) or maybe go door to door in your neighborhood. Or maybe help old ladies cross the street; they might give you a shinny nickle.

oh yeah...totally forgot about cars. i used to wash/polish/wax.... the whole deal with really good stuff and i got like... 35-75 dollars for a car.. it does take me like a whole day though so i donno if its worth it...i just like detailing for some reason. im not sure how much you get for "normal" washing. well good luck either way

you have plenty of time
i was 18 before i bought my first record

take it slow
if you already have gear, practice
buy whatever vinyl you can, and when you are older get a McJob and make some cash

if you continue on this path, by the time you're 18 and able to play a club, you'll be so good

i wish i started that early

word...i only got my gear at the end of freshmen year in college. I wish i had picked up on all this back before '98/'99 when all that good classic stuff came out. *sigh...now i'm almost 21 and having to choose between a day job and a dj job is painful.

ebay

sell your parents stuff on ebay, or cell Live mixes on ebay, like for example Paul Oakenfold Live@China. I sold that on ebay once for $20.00 and they even knew that the cd was bootleg n shit. Even tho its illegal.

Hey John...

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this already...

But if you're really that good then maybe you should start looking for a sponsor!!!

See if any of your local records shops sponsor local DJ's because I know some places help people do that.
