Way Too Much $$$$$
Im really gettin fucking sick of these ridiculous prices clubs are charging for big djs.... $40 $50 $60!!!!! its so disgusting... i mean, its DJs...they play records.. one after another!! some do it flawlessly and create journeys but it still aint worth no $50... back when twilo had S&D and PvD.. it was $35($30 w' guestlist..) and besides those 2 events, everyone else(Cox, Hawtin, Deep Dish etc..) was $25... im sorry for bitching but i think its just ridiculous paying $50+ to go clubbing.. i mean Underworld show, which they play LIVE(which is way harder to do.. if u been to a live electronica show, u know what i mean..) was $36.. and it had the best visuals\lighting, promotions, staff, crowd, vibe.. just everything was perfect...sorry if i sound retarded but its just the way i feel..after pvd, no more paying ridiculous amount of loot to go clubbing...(well at least for me..)
Gready bastids i tell ya!!! we all should boycot!!!!!
MIlllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
i gotta agree w/ u on that one....but honestly, it's only here that they charge sooooo damn much! ferry/tiesto and all other big names go for like 10/15 pounds over in london..(equivalent of like 20 bucks or so) so..it makes me wonder if it's the promoter/club owner ppl that are charging all that excess cuz it's so money-driven here as opposed to music-driven over in london. i mean...a plane ticket across the atlantic ain't that much more expensive...i dun really understand why the big name djs would charge that much more just cuz it's NYC or somethin'. so i'm putting my bet on the greedy owners and management people. my opinion only...

Yes I do remember the Twilo days but in NY PvD spins for around 6-7 hrs. Most other places it is 2-3. I think $40 for 6 hrs is better than $25 for 3 hours. You just gotta get em in advance.
Too bad I heard from "Visions of PvD" and made events that tickets are now $50 and at the door it will be $60. It is pure economics: demand exceeds supply = prices go up....which is why Sasha tix went down. For some reason not enough demand.
can i get a amen~!
Has nothing to do with greed of owners, all of ya..
Obviously none of u passed economics in college, or didnt get there yet..
This is simple called market Calls.. Simple bell curve.. Demand meets need..
If tix were around $20, then U would have 10000000000 people trying to see PVD... and u have chaos...
They know TONS of people wanna see PVD, and will do, no matter what price, so they raise the ticket price through the roof..
They still gonna get the ROXY maxed out...
Simple rules of economics...
feel free to boycott.. 20 kids are rite behind u waiting to fill your spot..
Art, I beg to differ
Ticket prices to see a DJ such as PVD here in Toronto in a venue that's not worse then Roxy, are never higher than 25USD. And I'm pretty sure PVD charges same in Canada as he does in US.
Of course Toronto is not as expensive as New York, but I doubt everything is twice cheaper here. Hm.. maybe paying off law-officers in US is where all the money goes.
Anyways, I think 50USD for PVD is a bit ridiculous. Isn't that how much a concert usually costs, even though concerts are much more expensive to organise. I personally don't know how a university student can afford that. Thank God my school has co-op, otherwise I'd be sitting here in TO counting my last 2 cents. Others may not be so lucky.
glow= 15 dollars...sometimes 10 dollars :P

New York just has the market to charge such high prices.. lots of rich folks everywhere... and if you think New York's bad, you should go to Tokyo... if you're a guy you're probably looking at $50 to get into Velfarre or whatever on a regular night....
This is just the effect of capitalization of the clubbing scene. I bet some officials/politicians are being paid off to turn their heads so clubs stay open. But another factor is these Dj's need to start charging a little less. Does PVD realy NEED $50,000 for 6 hours? this is not good for the scene
Here in Miami wwe get in for free for PVD etc.
AND IT HURTS THE FUCKING SCENE, Now we have no more trance nights because no one pays for the djs, Louis Puig the owner of probably one of the best clubs in the world (Space)has to close fridays night w/ Edgar as Resident and DJs (Marco V, gielen etc) WTF. People here dont go to see Edgar V for Free. I will Pay 50 Dollars for Marco V on the 28th and also Djs in LOndon spin for 2hrs, for them to do 5 hrs (EVERYONE @ SPACE DOES) its worth 40 bucks.

I'll agree for Boston definately and DC to some extent... but Space in Miami has parties that go into the afternoon the next day and it still doesn't cost as much as NY. Plus Spaces sound system is fawkin ridiculous! [/QUOTE
The thing is the cost of living in NY is much greater than most of the United States, and most of the world for that matter. It is not only clubbing that is more expensive here: how about rent? drinks? eating out? everything costs more here. Clubbing is not exempt from that. And as an owner of a business (i.e club owner) I would charge as much as I think I could in order to net me the highest profit. WHy is a clubowner any different from a restuarant owner? It is America--the land of opportunity and capitalism. Should these owners worry about how it is hurting the scene? c'mon. The way I see it these owners know that PvD will attract such a large demand that if a few people are turned off by the high prices it, it isnt a problem because the demand is so great that there are many others that will take their place. And they know this because of past history and present. PvD tix are almost sold out.
yes, but it used to be $35 to see pvd at twilo...
and normally $30 cover charge for regular nights at twilo and other clubs too...even less.
over the past year, prices have skyrocketed. and they can do this because we keep paying it. heh, i'm one of 'em. and if i didn't, someone else would.
it's all about money. that's why we all need to get good jobs so we can afford all this and keep up with the times
it sucks, and the only thing we can do is suck it up and deal, or go to other cities to party.

Hopefully when Crobar opens up it will be able to keep prices relatively lower than other clubs due to its huge capacity. We just need one club to do it then the others would realize they don't have to pay ridiculous prices to party to good music. Yes, NY is more expensive with everything but you can see solid talent at smaller clubs like Centro for around $25. Just sucks that the places that get the names I like are the ones that want to abuse people cuz they can.
Queens?
Planned capacity is?
