to those of you who persistently turn down progressive
check out:
steve porter - nordica
steve porter - the return
these are two of the most brilliant soundscapes i've heard in months!
if u are not able to recognize the beauty of these tracks, there is something seriously wrong with u.. hard trance lover or not.
'nuff said
Yeah great tunes, although I wouldn't say the best in months.
That would be:
bedrock - emerald (filterheadz remix)
Pole folder - dust
filterheadz - protection
Grayara - one for the road
Nugen - Braaj (Lemon 8 Remix)
salome & ives - mystic roya
...
and a few hundreds more
No, seriously great tracks!
Nordica is featured on bedrock 3, check it out, brilliant compilation
No offence meant or flame intended, but maybe some of us don't want to get into progressive, I'm totally happy with listening to uplifting & Epic and Harder stuff as well as chilled & Hardstyle, I don't feel left out cos im not humping the progressive sounds, it's just something that doesn't appeal to me, it's slow, boring and irritates me, I don't see a journey in it cos i fall asleep to it, but that's just me, so don't flame me for it, I know some ppl like me, and I know some who like it, and as much as I respect it, I have no intentions on trying to get into something just because everyone else and their sheepdog are

Yeah, I Mean I could do the same and point to tunes by oliver klitzing, technoboy or kai tracid and how beautiful they are to me, but wont be to everyone, songs have meanings, and some dont get the same feeling, but I don't see the point in trying to force a sound onto someone who isn't interested by it, it's the choice of the listener
there have been too many progressive evangelism threads! damn lay off!
i mean i love prog and all but quit forcing it on people! what if prog becomes a new fad!!?!? are you people gonna like that then!?!? what's gonna happen after that!? we're all gonna start listening to IDM (which I have been already for years anyway) and that'll be the end of it!
It's because people on those boards who like prog, me included.
Do like trance also and were pure Tranceaddicts before they realized the amazing sound of progressive. I know this doesn't go with everyone but it does go with many people.
And without those people I for one wouldn't have realized the beaty of progressive at least not so soon. So if you don't want it, ignore it.
cheers,

but seriously u hate like salesmen yeah, cos they're like forcing their product onto u, and this is no different, just a different scenario, so the next person who says 'progressive is the future, you have to like it' can have it stuck back up their arses (unless it's Coup cos he'd like it
)

Originally posted by ferrycorstenfan My Point exactly, it's freedom of choice, some go prog, some don't, some go a bit of both, we call those the cross... oops im getting caught away here but seriously u hate like salesmen yeah, cos they're like forcing their product onto u, and this is no different, just a different scenario, so the next person who says 'progressive is the future, you have to like it' can have it stuck back up their arses (unless it's Coup cos he'd like it )

Progressive has definitely made an impact on electronic musik..but trance will always be there and have its superstars
im anticipating matt darey;s remixes next year and more lieb remixes
Progressive is an excellent genre and its been fun exploring it for me..trance is always there
that list shows quality and quality....as both genres both produce their share of garbage.

Can we all stop thinking our favorite version is the hands down best? The epic trance lovers dont give a shit about the "more complex soundscapes of progressive", and the prog heads dont care about the "intense emmotion" of uplifting. Can we all stop crusading, and realize that one isn't necessarily better than the other, and that people have diffrent tastes?
Yea.. Atlas - Compas Error (T and R remix) POWNZZ!!!
Fell in love with it the first time I heard it.. Personally, I'm not a huge prog fan but I've been known to fall in love with many prog tunes. Such as
Arrakis - Aira Force (Lemon 8 remix)
Sleepfreaks - PHB (Director's cut)
Tarrantella - Karma (Praha mix)
Loudeast - Lights off <---- Not sure if this is progressive but it's an AWESOME chillout tune
Praha presents Xian - Kala Chant Part1
Sander Kleinberg - Venus and Mars
Natious - Thrust 1
Chris Fortier - Losing Wait

Originally posted by ferrycorstenfan My point exactly, Does it matter that I don't want to get into progressive ? No. Am I missing out on something ? Maybe so, But are prog fans missing out by not listening to harder stuff ? again maybe so, the whole thing is that I hate being preached of what to listen to, TV Companies control what we see, at least let us have freedom of choice with our music
Hmm I think this is wrong, as you have read my previous post in this thread.
As long you're satisfied with what u listen, and it completes your needs of being happy with the music, there's no way people have to explore other genres.
From the moment they aren't satisfied anymore with the music they listen nowadays, the exploring of other genres will follow automatically, but as long as you'r happy with the music u listen to, there's no reason why they should explore something else
I'm a progaddict, and I'm very openminded about this

Originally posted by tor8024 no offence, but i think you depart from a wrong basis here. persistently sticking to one genre is purely having blinkers on. i have no problem with you only liking uplifting or hard trance, it's just that you don't want to take your time and explore the world of progressive. when you give an opinion about something, isn't it normal to examine all the aspects of the topic first? that's why IMO, you cannot just say that prog is boring after hearing one or two tracks. i've checked out (and i still do) lots of hard trance, but there are few tracks that really appeal to me. "freedom of choice", i agree, but at least try to open the door and explore the world around you! cheers

eh no,
DnB is bigger now than it ever was in the past girlfriend. And i dont see where you are going with the ambient/chillout direction. I think the chillout stuff is stuck b/w a rock and a hard place. All i ever see are compilation after compilation of crap chill out tracks from years ago.
later

Progressive isn't a sound that everyone has to listen to, it isn't a genre that if people don't like that they should be called inferior or narrow minded.
I like progressive as much as I like Trance, Techno, and House, I have an open mind when it comes to electronic dance music, So I like anything that I hear as long as its part of those genres, However, I been listening to more progressive then I thought I did since the music takes me on a euphoric journey just hearing it, I got more into progressive cause of listening to the Global DJ Broadcast with Markus Schulz spinning his sets, Cause of his DJ skills, I have goten into progressive a lot more, But it doesn't mean I dont listen to the other genres, It really depends on the tracks, If I hear a track thats either progressive, Trance, Techno, Or house and I start feeling it, I would then like it a lot.
Well Mikey I was trying to be nice about it mate, and in a way u described how I usuaully would, I just dont see why if we can't get into it we're not the same level of person, it could be said for anyone of any genre
I dunno, i've been listening to both for several years now and yes a lot of epic trance is predictable and cheesy and yes alot of progressive is slow and boring...I think the best trance tracks are the ones that manage to sit in between the two genres, using fresh current sounds, intricate rhythms and original ideas while still managing to be uplifting and emotive
