Orbital - Halcyon on and on

is that the exact title for the song?

anyways,

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!

I've had it on repeat for the past 4 DAYS! and I'm still not tired of it, and it doesn't feel like I will get tired of it any time soon.

the vocals are awesome, even though I don't know what the heck she's saying, and the little piano tidbits they stuck in are awesome.

It's my new number one, replaces the song that got me into trance in the first place (Dreamland ) but well worth it.

funny thing is, when I first DL'd this song almost a year ago, I didn't like it very much! haha...funny how things like that end up.

so, that's that. flame away for another dumbtard making another useless post or whatever.

The correct title of the song was originally just Halcyon, which is was called on Orbital - Radiccio EP in '92 [Internal Records - POCD-1103] but when it got released on the album Orbital 2 in '93 [FFRR Records - 162 351 026-2] it was renamed to Halcyon + On + On.

The vocals used are a sample/extract from Opus III - It's A Fine Day - by Kirsty Hawkshaw.

It's one of my fav songs ever too.. but Orbital - Belfast still goes ahead on my top tunes list..

Personally I prefer the live version of Halycon, with the samples from Bon Jovi, and Belinda Carlisle at the end.

I love this tune. Such a beautiful, chilled track and I love the repeating vocal, knew it was Kirsty Hawkshaw but had no idea it was sampled from the Opus III track. It's aslo amazing considering it was made a decade ago and still sounds fresh today.

yeah! I heard this tune ~few months back and I was totally amazed that such quality tune was produced so early!! Orbital really was ahead of time...

Yeah the deal is that The Hartnoll brothers wanted to use Kirsty Hawkshaw's vocals but she didnt even get back to them, so when Opus 3 came out with - its a fine day - the brothers used the accapella on the bside and put it at work....and the rest they say is history. The live version rocks the house and was only released on 7"...very hard to find.

Well said, I agree with 'Belfast' anyday anytime!

Halcyon on + on on vinyl is pretty a rare find. It's on the Brown Cover Album 3 x 12" [ which was limited pressings..arghh ]which is one of my favourites of all time

Orbital has stretched and shaped the horizons of dance music, needless to say....Tunes that will soothe your mind and soul = Halcyon & Belfast!!

Anyone selling the Brown Cover LP, please email me at [email protected]
