Satan (eek!) Something that's really gotten to me lately...

Now, this ones for the american tas in particular. i recently got a chain letter e-mail about how september 11 had got people sayin why didnt god intervene, and that some woman then said that people had been pushing god out of the schools etc. over the last few years so how could we expect him to get involved here. now that was fair enough, and if the mail stopped there, id have happily passed it on, but it started then into how the fact that god had been pushed out of schools was responsible for the high school shootings of recent years, and that music was also responsible for the state the countries in. i have one thing to say about that: this bleeding heart christian failed to mention the most rediculous gun laws and gun glorifying society in the world. im willing to bet the fool who wrote the mail and said god's the answer is also a member of the n.r.a.
just had to get that off my chest...

This probably belongs in the politics forum.

Anyway I don't have much respect for the people who try to blame violence on a decrease in the emphasis of religion in society. I'm not going to start listing any of the NUMEROUS and OBVIOUS reasons why that argument is a poor one. I personally suspect that they are just exploiting tragedy to attempt to push their views onto others.

I guess it's fittingly ironic that they would choose a chain letter - perhaps the most obnoxious form of communication - to perpetuate their equally obnoxious message.

In addition to ? Nah, I agree with you, and I must say that Arbiter's comment regarding chain letters hit home.

I have little respect for these beliefs and numerous other beliefs that put the blame on society for "losing touch with god". I find the major religions hard to accept anyway without certain members of these religions making outlandish claims such as these.

I totally agree with you dude. The chain letter is hardly a form of communication to express these ideas. Oh wait - it's the only form that this message could take that would ever reach someone because if this came in regular mail, people would just tear it up (smart people anyway ) People are always looking for scapegoats... and attention.
