Hello! It is Friday - Part 51

Is it time for a spring cleaning?

Posted by Silky Johnson on Apr-15-2016 17:21:

Hah, just had our first clean by the cleaning ladies we hired on Wednesday. So great to come home to a clean house I didn't have to clean myself! I did my spring wardrobe purge last week too so not a whole lot to do around here this weekend, although I work all weekend anyway. Wamp wamp.

edit: I recently did a "spring clean" of my FB friends list too, lol.

Ya cleaning today too. Gave my old dog a bath last night, a vet came today to check him out and now it's time to clean my condo.

Also, for those of you that sometimes jizz on your monitors by accident or for whatever other reasons have dirty computer screens... Get a microfiber cloth and mix some warm (not hot) water and some Dawn dish soap (just a few drops) into said bowl, dip part of the cloth in the bowl, wring it out thoroughly and then wipe all the crap off your monitor. Works like a charm and doesn't do any damage.

Make sure the monitor is off, obviously.

Microfiber cloths seem to be the godliest things ever. So is Dawn dish soap!

Just keeping it to vodka and a movie tonight. Already had a past few weekends full of debauchery, welcoming some quiet time now.

I would love to be able to get away to the cabin for the night, but I am not sure I can "beg permission" this weekend. Work has 100% totally and thoroughly sucked donkey dicks today. So ready to just surrender.

Omg I just remembered that, after my shifts this weekend, I'm off for 16 days!

Fuck me, I'd be useless after 16 days away from this place!

From where? Work?

Well, to be fair, it's 16 days off from my full time gig. I'm picking up orientation shifts at my new (casual) gig. But still. Weee!

Yeah, I meant work. I spend more time here than at home...or anywhere else for that matter.

Well that sucks. It's weird, this second job I just got doesn't even feel like work. I guess because I don't depend on it? And it's just casual? I dunno, somehow it doesn't count haha.

I used to like my job (IT, network support for a smallish community bank). But we've added so many branches/users/products in the last 5 years that the joy has been sucked right out of it. 10 hour days are the norm, and we spend so much time running around putting out the hottest fire first that a lot of the "real" IT just goes by the wayside so we can get a user back in the game. If I could get off the damn phone/help desk BS, I could really take the place up several notches, but management knows they are getting us at a helluva bargain because we do help desk, networking, VM management, security, compliance, etc. All for one low, low salary!

Welp, you could always just give that up and do strictly hand jobs.

LOLZ. Unfortunately, my experience is limited to giving myself...the short stroke.

I ended up deleting my Facebook

Lol damn, I didn't even notice.

Why?

Posted by on Apr-16-2016 05:03:

First he gave up beer now facebook. It's either a diet or a mid life crises or both. Mama Mia Eric!

Posted by Vivid Boy on Apr-16-2016 15:03:

I got rid of it because I used it more as a procrastination tool when trying to do work on the computer. I have to say I don't miss it too much. My birthday was on Thursday and instead of 3 billion messages I got like 10-12 phone calls from friends who didn't need Facebook notifications to realize it was my birthday. It was nice because it was more sincere. Also I don't have to hear people talk about their political opinions about Syria and post disinformation articles about all sorts of shit from pseudoscience to onion articles they think are real.

But above else my production has gone wayy up. Now I just go on reddit for a quick read through then open up all my programs and go to work. I've turned into one of those coffee shop MacBook losers though lol

I'm learning to get myself to seriously focus, eliminating that background noise in life is fucking key.

Need some new clothes for the spring/summer, gonna shop all day. Btw made a mix this morning, pm me if you want it.

Posted by Lews on Apr-16-2016 15:40:

Why not just upload/post it?

Posted by on Apr-16-2016 15:41:

I also find facebook a distraction and a time/energy drain. I just don't login frequently. The longer you stay away the less you miss it.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Apr-16-2016 15:53:

Facebook is fine if your friends list isn't filled with people you met last Saturday and/or people whose class you were in in grade 2.

I wanted to get rid of mine lots of times for the same reasons, but all I had to do was get rid of the people who didn't mean anything to me. Huge improvement.

Would like to keep it unlisted, have it a bit more personal; meaningless probably but why not :}
